Hey everyone. This story was brought to you by All Sorts of Love Competition on Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenges. I wrote my first story for this challenge for the crack pairing of Dobby/Hedwig. I hope you all enjoy To Love an Owl.

There she sat a pretty white princess in her cage of metal and Dobby wanted nothing more than to free her from that cage. She looked ever so lonely in there. Sitting on her perch just staring out at the room beyond her cold hard prison bar.

"Hello, pretty bird," Dobby crooned gently at her. "Dobby has come to rescue you from your boredom. Does the pretty bird want to come out and take a little fly?"

Hedwig hooted gently at the small creature standing in front him. She'd never met such a creature before but she knew that this one had been in her boy's room before. Huge amber eyes looked onto tennis ball green ones and a spark went through the small owl's heart. Something she'd never felt before for another creature.

"Dobby will let the pretty bird out of her prison," the creature, Dobby, told her. "But Dobby is wondering something..." His sentence dropped off to quite before he could finish because how could he make her understand his request. Harry Potter's Hedwig didn't speak human language like Dobby did.

Hedwig hooted quizzically at Dobby cocking her head to the side in question.

"Dobby was wondering if the pretty bird would allow him to kiss her?"

Hedwig didn't totally understand what was being requested of her. She'd seen this kiss Dobby referenced before while she roosted up in the Hogwarts Owlery. But she being an owl didn't have the lips required to give Dobby his kiss.

"Hedwig doesn't have to give Dobby a kiss," Dobby told her. "But Dobby can give Hedwig one. If she will see fit to allow it. Will Hedwig allow Dobby to give her a kiss?"

Hedwig hooted indignantly but nodded her head none the less.

Dobby gave a warble of glee before opening the bird cage with his house elf magic. Nearing the his pretty bird. His Hedwig he pursed his lips together and gently pressed them to the confused owls beak.

Hedwig hooted again indignantly.

"I'm coming to let you out, Hedwig," Harry called as his footsteps on the stairs sounded closer.

"Dobby has to go," Dobby told Hedwig as he closed the cage and disappeared with a crack.

Hedwig looked around confused. Dobby was a strange little being but Hedwig wasn't complaining about having his company. She hooted yet again as he boy allowed her the freedom to fly. Perhaps she'd go and try and find Dobby or perhaps just have a good fly.

I hope you all enjoyed To Love an Owl.
