A/N: Wow look I've written a story for the most boring professor in existence. For the Houses Competition
House: Ravenclaw
Category: Drabble
Prompt: Cuthbert Binns
Word count: 314
Cuthbert Binns had always held a strong passion for the history of magic. Unfortunately, it was a passion that was not shared by many of his students, but he endeavoured to make it so. In his mind, there was nothing more fascinating than the revolt of Elfric the Eager, or the Soap Blizzard of 1378. All he wanted, as a professor, was to endow upon his students the ancient knowledge and wisdom that came with knowing their history.
He wasn't sure how long he'd been teaching at Hogwarts. It was, however, certainly long enough for his bones to have begun to stiffen with age, and for his hair to turn limp and grey, when it once was dark and full of life. But he would carry on teaching, this he knew, because it was worth it to see bright young minds being filled with the wonders of the past.
It was a frequent occurrence in Professor Binns's classroom to see students sending notes flying across the classroom to one another. Revision notes, most likely. It was always nice to see students helping their peers. No one ever spoke in his classes, though he didn't mind that in the slightest. He was content for them to just listen, if that was how they wanted to learn.
After one particularly engaging class on the International Warlock Convention of 1289 - one which left the students dazed as they walked out, no doubt overwhelmed by the excitement of the class - Cuthbert headed to the staff room to reshuffle his notes. An overwhelming fatigue crept over him as he sank into a chair and he felt his eyes begin to drift closed. He attempted to force them open, but decided in the end to just let it be. He set his notes aside and settled into a more comfortable position. After all, a little nap couldn't hurt, could it?
