It was a dark and stormy night in June. Riza Hawkeye was sitting in her living room reading a book while Black Hayate was lying in front of the fire, playing with a toy. All of a sudden, there was a knock at the door. Riza looked at the clock on the table next to her and saw that it was 11:30 p.m. She wondered, 'who on earth could that be at this hour?', while getting up to answer the door.
"Who is it?" Riza asked.
"Roy," said the voice.
"What do you want, Roy? Are you drunk again?" Riza asked while opening the door to let him in.
"No," Roy Mustang said, "I just wanted to come by and see what you and Black Hayate were doing."
"Well, I was reading a book and Black Hayate was in front of the fire playing with the toy you gave him for his birthday last week," she said while on her way to the kitchen to make them some tea. As she did so, Roy went and sat down on the couch, making sure Riza was still in sight. While sitting there, Roy started to think, 'If only I could be close to her...I've made up my mind! I'm going to make my move!' So he got up, walked into the kitchen, got right up behind her, and wrapped his arms around her waist. Riza jumped in shock.
"Roy, what are you--,"
"I like you Riza! I like you a lot and I have for a while. I just haven't had the courage or guts to tell you until no," he said before letting his firm grip on her waist to loosen up so he could put his hands on her hips. A second later, Riza turned around and looked at him. His head was hung over like a limp puppy paw and he was feeling the details of her outfit's sewing on her hips with his ungloved hands.
After a few moments of silence, Roy felt something wet hit the top of his head. He looked up and saw Riza crying. Then, Riza wrapped her arms around his waist and said, "I like you a lot, too, Roy!"
After she said that, Roy started to grin and cry at the same time. 'I've finally found someone who likes me as much as I like them!' He thought to himself. At that moment, he put his index finger under Riza's chin, gently lifted her head to regular height, and kissed her. As Riza and Roy were kissing, Riza noticed that Black Hayate had been watching them the whole time!
As Riza pulled away from the kiss, Black Hayate made his way over to her, put his right paw on her slipper, and looked up at her and Roy. Riza picked him up and all three of them went into the living room, sat down in front of the fire, and fell asleep on the most perfect night either one of them had had in a long time.
