Saving The World
He loved playing video games. Sure, he liked racing cars and fighting zombies. But, his favorite were the ones where you save the world.
He loved the rush of emotion it gave him. Something that made him feel close to his father. Who he hardly ever saw.
His father worked for the military. He was gone for long periods of time. And when he was home he seemed to be farer away then when he was gone.
It hurt to see his mother cry. He wanted to be able to make their world alright. Make it a happy place like before.
So, turned to video games. Seeming an interest no any different from any other boy.
Vido games became his obssession. One that would last his whole life. It changed over the years. But, the main concept was the same.
He was 10 when his father died. He died in action. They never got the body back. Just a "Dear, Mrs. Sheppard" letter.
His mother fell inot a depression so deep, she drove her car off a bridge. Taking the life of his little sister along with her own.
Alone. There was nothin g he could have done. Could have forseen to save their lives.
He was helpless. He never wanted to feel that feeling again.
He would do anything it took to protect the ones he cared about. Anything.
