A/N: I am a TERRIBLE author. /: I pretty much am starting over, a fresh writing slate. Deleting all stories that I don't see the need to continue. Sorry to any of my hardcore fans. ): BUT I do have quite a few ideas up my sleeve that are better planned out and better written.
I don't own any of this!
Why, Miss Elphaba
Rachel Berry has a very set routine. Wake up daily at 6:03 am, run a mile, shower, get dressed and ready for school, eat a little something for breakfast, then go to school. Once at school, soak in as much information as possible in order to pass all tests. (With an A, of course!) Afterschool, Glee club in which she will show off her amazing talent.
Yeah. (Rachel is kind of delusional. But she doesn't know that yet.)
You see, Rachel has a dream. A highly unrealistic dream it is, but there you go. She wants to be Elphaba on Broadway.
At age ten, she went to go see Wicked live in New York with her dads. She was astounded. She knew all about Funny Girl and My Fair Lady, but this was a whole new world. She loved I'm Not That Girl, was drawn in by No Good Deed, and cried during For Good.
And then, she knew what she wanted to be.
"Daddy?" Little Rachel Berry asked.
"Yes, Princess?" Leroy Berry grinned.
"I want to be on Broadway." She stated simply. Leroy looked concernedly towards his husband.
"Uh, wow, Rach, that's great!" Hiram smiled. "Are you sure?"
She nodded importantly. "Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"
Hiram gulped and smiled again. "How about some voice and dance lessons?"
Rachel nodded. "Only the best!" She giggled.
And so, Hiram did not have the heart to tell her how unrealistic her dream was.
Here we stand, at Rachel Berry's seventeenth birthday, her new best friends Kurt and Mercedes by her side. Friends. The word filled her up with happiness and warmth.
She blew out her candles, only one wish on her mind: . She chanted it over and over in her mind.
Rachel's first audition did not go so well. The normally confident girl was floored by the sheer number of girls she was competing with. Her rendition of Don't Rain on My Parade was kind of weak in some areas from the vast amount of pressure and anxiety on her shoulders.
The directors told her that she didn't have quite what they were looking for.
She marked "Funny Girl" off her audition list.
The next audition went a million times better. She chose to sing 'Popular', from Wicked, an odd choice considering she was auditioning for Elphaba.
It complimented her voice beautifully, and at twenty years of age, she recieved a callback.
Opening night. Everyone who ever taunted her or hated her was floored. Kurt cried when she sang 'No Good Deed' as Elphaba. Really, it's just good that the actual actress playing Elphie got very ill that day. The understudy was not prepared at all, and the only other girl who looked like Elphie should look and knew the part well enough was a chourus member.
Rachel Berry.
Finn walked up with a bouquet of red roses. "You did great, Rach." He kissed her on the cheek. "I knew you'd make it here one day."
Hiram and Leroy walked up, tears in their eyes. "We honestly did not think you could do it."
Rachel's face fell.
"But we are ten times prouder now that you did!" They engulfed her in hug.
Unrealistic? Maybe. But unreachable? No.
