It was pleasantly quiet in Blaine's Prius on the way back from their first prom together. They were both reminiscing silently on the events from the evening when Blaine took his right hand off the wheel to find Kurt's in the dark of the highway. Thankfully, he knew Kurt well enough to know his hands would be folded on his primly, crossed legs. Blaine took his hand, and interlaced his fingers with his own, pulling them both to rest on the center console. As he did that, Kurt came out of his memories and smiled to himself.
He looked over to Blaine to see him smiling in the same way. Kurt continued to unabashedly stare at Blaine's various facial features, until two warm, brown eyes meeting his interrupted his staring. When Kurt looked away with a small laugh, he realized Blaine was pulling into his driveway to drop him off. After Blaine put it into park, he quickly pulled Kurt's hands to his lips to place a chaste kiss there, never breaking eye contact with him. Kurt then jumped out of the car as quick as he could in his kilt, leaving Blaine saddened and confused as to why he left so quickly.
He looked down at his hands and let out a sigh. He was trying to think of what he could have done wrong that evening to make Kurt run off like that when a rap at the driver's side window startled him. Kurt backed up and extended his hand in a gentlemanly manner. A look of childish amusement replaced the look of hurt on Blaine's face before Kurt could even notice, and he turned off the car quickly, shoving the keys into his tuxedo pocket. Kurt opened the door for Blaine, and again extended his hand for his boyfriend to take. He smiled as Blaine took his hand, that ridiculous goofy grin plastered on his face.
"You've been nothing short of a perfect gentlemen this evening, I figured I would attempt to return the favor."
Kurt bowed down to kiss the top of his hand, as Blaine had done to him in the car, and then helped him up. Their hands stayed intertwined on the walk to the front door, with Blaine's head leaning softly on Kurt's shoulder. They climbed the stairs together and then turned to face one another, their other hands coming together also. Kurt stifled a giggle, and Blaine was the first to speak.
"I…ah. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to end this wonderful evening…."
"I'd be okay with you kissing me goodnight."
Blaine smiled and let his hands go, and they managed to find their way to Kurt's waist. He pulled Kurt flush against his chest, and leaned up to meet his lips with his own. Kurt had to lean down further than usual because of his boots, but this was a new and interesting angle. Their kiss deepened as one of his hands came up to Blaine's cheek, and the other to rest on his chest. They were too wrapped up in their kiss to notice that someone had opened the door and was staring at them, arms crossed.
Burt Hummel stood there, unsure of how to carry on with this situation. Kurt had told him that he and Blaine were dating, and sure he had met Blaine before…but it was not under the best circumstances. He stood there for a few more seconds, hoping the boys would get the clue, but they continued on, oblivious as ever. It was when Blaine's hands slid noticeably lower that Burt cleared his throat with an angry look. Kurt jumped apart from Blaine as if he'd been electrocuted, as Blaine calmly stood his ground.
"Mr. Hummel. Thank you for letting me take your son out this evening."
Burt's expression stayed the same, but he gave a curt nod in acknowledgement. Knowing now was the best time to leave; Blaine leaned over and whispered in Kurt's ear.
"I'll call you tomorrow."
Blaine surprised him with a kiss on the cheek, and then immediately about-faced back towards his car. He grabbed his keys to unlock the car, and threw a wave back towards the Hummel men still standing on the doorstep. He drove off, and Kurt blushed as his dad lead him inside.
