Vault 51: Wasteland Myths

Set during the events of fallout 3, just before the waters of life quest. A group of enclave soldiers from the capitol wasteland attempt to establish contact with the fabled lost vault of America. WARNING: Contains violence and small amounts of language. NOT a romance novel. Note: It says John Henry Eden is in the story, he plays a minor role.

2077: Vault 51...

The scientist put away the vial he was working on and looked around his lab, it wasn't a large lab, but it was important enough to have armed guards by every door. Durasteel bars and bullet-proof glass kept the scientist's "projects" at bay, it was necessary to keep them containment due to the experiment's volatile nature. The scientist keyed the code into the door and left his lab, a chorus of screams greeted him...

Tthe scientist froze, looking out of the bullet-proof window into the experiment storage he could see security forces running to the bulk-head door to the storage facility, but something was wrong, there was a tearing sound and one of the cages ripped apart, a bulbous, bloody mutant crawled from the cage and leaped on one of the security guards, the guard had time to scream before his head was torn off and a shower of blood coated the metal floor, parasites crawled from the creatures mouth and engulfed more of the guards in a carpet of bugs. The creature closed its gaping maw and the tide of bugs stopped, but the damage was done, some of the guards got back up already mutating, most never got back up at all. An almost primal urge arose in the infected guards, driving them to attack those who had once been called friends.

The rest of the security continued to retreat, killing a few of the mutants, the bulk-head door was already closing as the guards ran, a few made it past the bulk-head door but it closed shut on the rest, they turned and fired upon the mutants, it was a doomed battle on the part of the infected guards and the beast from the cage but they attacked nonetheless. The guards managed to hold off the mutants but at a cost to their own, they yelled curses to those who had closed the bulk-head door on them and in their victory swore to never work as a guard again.

Then they heard it, the screech of metal and twisting bars. They turned to see an army of brutes, creatures and mutants swarming towards them, a few of the guards put up a fight, most just screamed in fear and begged to be let through the bulk-head door. The group on the other side of the door sat in silence, listening to the sounds of the security guards last stand. The one thing that could be said was that it was quick for a few. The rest became mutants themselves. The scientist threw up on the floor and collapsed against the glass window. A mutant heard him and looked up, seeing the window he dew others too him and they clawed their way up the wall. "Oh shit" Thought the scientist, before getting his head torn off by a mutant.
