Did Minerva cry when Artemis was lost to Limbo?

Of course.

But not because she was in love with him. It was because of what his mind meant to her.

Don't get it?

All her life Minerva had been the lone genius. Sitting by herself in the grass reading, as other children ran and played with each other. Those children never bothered Minerva. They could tell that she was different. So they kept their distance. And she kept hers.

Soon, she began to find there was a world outside sitting on the grass and reading. And as Minerva slowly learned about that world, she began to enter it herself. And the young girl knew, that because of her intelligence, because of those talents that had pushed her away from others, she had the power to change the world.

It was something she had never felt before. Knowing you can do something, and do it easily, to actually affect others. Minerva wanted to test out her power as soon as possible.

Her father had raised her to be good, and so good she would do.

Minerva had always had a fascination with animals. Why not help them first?

So let's fast forward. Minerva had captured the demon. She met Artemis and exchanged a bit of witty banter. Stop.

Of course Minerva had known of Artemis Fowl. But when she first spoke to him, she immediately knew he was her equal. The genius could tell, from the way he carried himself to the tone of his voice.

Minerva secretly was elated. After years of being the only one, she had finally met another with a mind like hers. The lone little girl sitting on the grass wasn't alone anymore.

Fast forward again. Minerva is kidnapped. Artemis and co. go to rescue her. Artemis is sent to Limbo. Minerva returns to France.

Devastated.

Why, why had this happened to her? There was finally someone there, another to sit beside her on the grass and read with her. But in only hours, not even days, was he lost.

And she was alone again.

It couldn't have been karma. She was trying to help the demons by making them an endangered species. So why did he leave then?

Minerva would wait. Wait to find the answers.

And if there were none? And if Artemis never came back?

Well then, Minerva would wait for her next equal. She would wait alone, as she had always done, and cry until that day where they would meet came.
