Legal: I don't own any characters from Law & Order: SVU or Rescue Me. I am just borrowing them for a minute to give Liv a little fun.

Author's Note: I love Dean Winters, although I was not a big fan of Cassidy, and definitely did not like Liv with Cassidy. However, I did like Johnny Gavin, so I decided to let him have a little fun with Liv. Not sure if I am going to continue the drabble. I will let you all review and let me know where I should go with it.

This is starting in Rescue Me – Season 3 – the morning after the fight with Tommy at the birthday party.

Best Friends Always Tell the Truth

I startled awake to the sound of pounding on my door. I grabbed my gun and stumbled to the door. I looked through the peephole to see the sorriest face I had seen in a long time at my door. I started laughing as I pulled open the door.

"Gavin, did you piss Tommy off again?" I asked pulling him into the apartment.

He stumbled in, grumbling "How do you always know when I have been fighting with my family?"

I laughed harder as I grabbed ice from the fridge and threw it in a towel. "Because that's when you always come knocking on my door at 3 a.m. You are lucky I am home you bugger." I brought the ice into the living room and flopped down on the couch next to my best friend. "So, what's the deal this time?" I asked.

He grumbled again as he made room for me on my couch and kicked off his dress shoes. "Slept with his ex-wife."

I hit him hard on the arm. "Ok, you have done some nasty shit, but dude what the hell is with that?"

He flinched and just shrugged at me. "She's beautiful, and she's an amazing person. I have loved her for years, and adore their kids. It just felt like the right thing to do."

"Come on, Gavin. You can have, and have had, a million women. Yet, you choose to sleep with Tommy's wife? Really?" I looked at him with the seriousness of an interrogation.

"Come on, Liv. I come here for support, not a lecture. I just want to chill and hang out, and attempt to not hurt myself anymore than I need to." He looked at me with the sad eyes that he always tried to use when he was looking to get his way.

I just shook my head and patted his knee. This was how we had been since we met in the Academy. We would just hang on each other's couches when the shit hit the fan, and then we would grill each other the morning after. If there was one person on the planet I knew would give me the truth, without sugarcoating a stitch of it, it was Johnny. That's what we had always been for each other since we had met.
