I had given up, on beating the empire, on stopping Kefkas mad crusade to destroy all life. On everything. All I have left are these children.

A sign, a sign of many things. Celes and Sabin came today, looking for my help. I told them my secret, I lost my will, to fight, to save them. I couldn't even defend then when that monster attacked the village.
Give me a reason
A reason. What was my reason? Did I fight to regain my memories, did I fight to help protect people from the empire, did I fight to help the Espers, or did I fight just because Locke and Edgar asked me to.

I remember fighting, fighting for the empire, fighting against it, I fought for the empire because I had no choice. I fought against the empire because they wouldn't let me go. But they have now.
To see another dawn through a daughters eyes
They are the reason why I now stay, to see the smile on their faces every day, helping them survive after Kefka took everything away from them.

Then I realized, a reason, a reason to fight. To protect them, from Kefka, and the madness he's inflicting on the world, they are the reason.
