I decided to take a short break from my ongoing story Through Someone Else's Eyes to write this little one-shot. I have never, ever liked Blaise Zabini or Pansy Parkinson as people or characters. So naturally I had to pair them. Hope you like it, Kit Kat

I do not own Harry Potter, Ms. J.K Rowling does.

Pansy stood in the corner of the room, sulking. Draco had dumped her. Her. For her (former) best friend's little sister. Now she was quietly sipping punch at Slughorn's Christmas party.

She wasn't alone though. The only reason she had come here is because an old friend had invited her. Blaise Zabini was slowly weaving his way across the room. He was stopped by Slughorn, who wanted to introduce him to some vampire. Pansy sniffed. She would've rather had come with someone else. But Blaise had been kind enough to invite her, and she couldn't resist a party.

"Care to dance?" Zabini asked hopefully.

"No thanks," she answered, and shrugged, "I think I'll just watch."

"You don't have to act so depressed. He was a jerk. You used to be the life of the party, you know."

"Sure," she said, rolling her eyes. Blaise ignored her and held out his hand.

"One dance?" he practically begged.

"Absolutely not." His mouth turned into a firm line. Pansy could tell she'd stung him. He pulled back his hand and drew up to his full height.

"I don't understand, he never really loved you, you know that right?" It was true. Ever since their fourth year, when Draco had asked her to the Yule Ball, Pansy had followed him around like he was a god. She adored him. But she had known he had never truly returned her feelings. She just couldn't fathom why. She was pretty, right?

What a lot of people didn't know was that Draco wasn't the first person that had caught Pansy's eye. She had asked Blaise to the Ball far before she had even given Draco the chance. He had turned her down cold. She had cried, hard, after that. Tissues were flying everywhere. Her former best friend Daphne tried everything to console her. Then Draco asked her. She saw him as her knight in shining armer. It was the perfect way to make Blaise jealous. Malfoy had always acted like he was better than Zabini, and everyone for that matter, now he had something to prove it. He had Pansy Parkinson on his arm.

Needless to say, it worked. Blaise turned jealous. Pansy managed to convince herself she had wanted Draco all along, that he was what she wanted now. For awhile, that might've been true. But now something was holding her back from dancing with her old friend.

"You don't either. You only want me because he does."

"Did. He did want you. Past tense. Actually, I don't think he ever did want you. I think he was using you, Pansy." It stung, so hard. It went like a knife through her heart. But what made the knife so sharp was she knew his words were truth.

"He was," she said meekly, it was a bare whisper. Blaise held out his hand again.

"A second chance?" he asked. She took his hand.

Soon they were sweeping across the dance floor. The Weird Sisters blared rock 'n roll.

"I like you, Pansy I really do," he said in her ear as they danced.

"But?"

"I don't like being anyone's second choice."

"You were never my second choice, you were my first. You've always been my first." And with that he kissed her…on the cheek. She felt herself blush. Warmth spread all the way to her toes.

And for the first time in a long time, Pansy Parkinson was the life of the party
