Shades of the Night
It was a quite night outside of the X-mansion. Everything seemed to be fine but then "X-men, report To the War Room immediately" Cyclops's voice thundered inside the mansion. Rogue, Jean, Gambit, Beast, and Nightcrawler came hurriedly into the War Room. The professor, Storm and Cyclops were already there when the others arrived.
"I have located a new mutant girl that's not far from here" said Professor Xavier a bit nervously. "Who is she?" asked Jean. "I'm not sure yet. Her powers somehow are able to block my telepathy from her. I was only able to locate her." answered the professor looking worried. "Why is she using her powers? Do you think that the Brotherhood found her first?" said Nightcrawler. There was silence for a moment and then the professor said "The only way to find out is to go there. Remember, this girl may not be able to control her powers very well. Be on your way." said the professor.
"A team of three will go and deal with the girl." said Cyclops and everyone looked at him. Then he spoke again "Jean, Nightcrawler, and Gambit will go. Nightcrawler will teleport them. The other ones will stay here." Jean and the others got prepared and teleported out of the mansion. They got to the street the professor told them. It was very dark and they started walking up the street to find some trait of this new mutant. They walked for like ten minutes and then something moved from behind a tree. They went to check but there was nothing there. They heard something behind them, and when they looked back they saw Mistique.
"The girl is ours so don't bother or she is going to have to hurt you." she said calmly. They got angry and Gambit got out one card and said "What have you done to her? You bitch." Mistique was going to transform into a bird to escape but Jean got her just in time and smashed her into the ground. "Where is she"? asked Jean firmly. Mistique then answered her "How lucky you are. Here she comes." The team looked around and saw a girl walking toward them. She was barely eighteen, a bit smaller than Jean, and had dark green eyes with dark hair. She was wearing a long black cape and clothing.
"Let her go now." the girl said to Jean who was still holding Mistique with her telekinesis. "Please Shade, help me. They want to kill me, just like I told you." Mistique told the girl. "What are you talking about?" Nightcrawler asked. But suddenly a blast of transparent black wave pushed them around hardly. The girl called Shade had attacked apparently attacked them with her powers. Gambit got up and tossed one charged card at them but another transparent back wave rose from the ground and covered her and Mistique.
"What the hell was that?" said Gambit with an impressed look on his face. Jean and Nightcrawler got closer to take a better look at what happened. "Attack them Shade." Mistique's voice was heard when the area had cleared out. Before they could move a big blast of black wave strucked them again. This time they were thrown about fifteen meters away from them.
When they got to the place where Mistique and Shade were supposed to be they were already gone. "What was that all about" said Gambit looking confused. They looked at each other and then Nightcrawler said "Mistique must have told her we were the bad guys or something like that." They stood there for a moment and then Jean said "We better get back to the mansion and report what happened. We need to find out more about this Shade and what her powers are." Nightcrawler grabbed Jean's and Gambit's hands and in no time they teleported to mansion leaving the street empty and dark again.
