A/N: A short drabble of mine to test if my writing skills had been rusty in months of inactivity. This idea popped in my head while seeing Ragna and Rachel interact in the story mode of Chronophantasma. Hopefully, I'll be back in a regular update, if time permits me so.

It wasn't her fault it ended this way. It wasn't her fault his life was fading away. It wasn't her fault. It wasn't. It was his fault in the end.

Feeling drowsy as he was enveloped in complete darkness, his mind thought about the previous events that had transpired before his downfall. It started with the fight with Rabbit. And then, after the fight, she quoted Master's words and left in anger. After that, the Azure Grimoire reacted, slowly eating him inside. He pushed on, realizing it's getting dangerous.

His endless stride led him to the cathedral, and unfortunately, he encountered Jin. Being an arrogant bastard that he is, he didn't listen to his warnings and died by his own hands. Not literally his hands, as he transformed into the Black Beast.

And here he is now, feeling nothing, seeing nothing. He could hear voices, but they were barely audible. He tried to call them out but to no avail.

Few moments had passed. He could feel himself again, but barely. His body was becoming numb, his surroundings felt cold. He couldn't even open his eyes.

...something you could not have prevented. It is not your fault, nor was it Ragna's...

That voice... he could make out what the voice was saying. Despite his stupidity by not listening to her words, she didn't place a blame on him. How weird of her. It didn't sit right with him. He couldn't bare to even imagine Rachel in a devastated state.

"Ra... chel..."

He didn't want to die without someone noticing.

Ragna felt his head move, and then placed into something soft. He felt her hands softly touching his cheek. Her touch was warm and gentle, opposite to the coldness he was feeling.

He heard Rachel apologize to him. Just hearing her voice gave him another pain in the chest. He was somehow glad he couldn't see, as he was sure it'll make his death quicker and more painful.

"...is watch, as everything ends..."

He didn't want to leave her crying. "It's okay..." No, not those lies. "I mean, what the hell. That's... so..." Rachel really cared for him, right from the beginning of their encounter. "...not like... you..."

Hearing her like this is very unusual. He was expecting her to take his death lightly.

"Rest for now. Though you may forget me, I shall never forget you."

Ragna wished he could do the same.

"I will see you again... in another world."

Cryptic as always... Rabbit... If he could curve his lips to a smile, he would. If he could speak again, he would. His body couldn't stay awake any longer. He felt her warmness disappear as his consciousness drifted away.

It wasn't her fault. It wasn't her fault it ended this way. It was his and his idiocity. If he could learn from this mistake, he would.
