Welcome, and enjoy this little RoyEd oneshot ^^
Ed,
I don't really know why I'm doing this. I know I shouldn't be. You're away, far away. This will never reach you.
"Sir," Lt. Hawkeye lays a hand on Mustang's shoulder, "we should go,"
Roy nods wordlessly, standing up and leaving the house with Riza. The lock clicks.
How are you over there?
It's a stupid question, honestly. But I'm asking you anyway. I assume you'll answer with something haughty, on the lines of, "why are you even asking?" but it's for the sake of this letter.
The car ride is bumpy, and quiet. The letter in Roy's hands is wrinkled from his tight grip around it. He doesn't look anywhere else except outside the window.
"are you okay, sir?" the Lieutenant asks softly. Roy nods. He still isn't looking at her.
Alphonse is doing fine over here, as are everyone else. He's married to May now. They have two kids actually- they look so much like him, and you. You's be overjoyed if you'd ever see them. Ever come back.
It amazes me, also, how strong he and Winry are. With you gone, and Pinako passing away several months ago. The pain was obvious in their faces and looking at them... actually hurt.
But still, they smiled at the visitors. They greeted them with cheer, saying Pinako wouldn't want them getting all depressed over her.
"Do you think it's going to rain, Hawkeye?" Roy asks, looking out the window. The sun is shining, although through thick, gray clouds. Riza's eyes widen, and she bites at her lower lip.
"I heard there was a storm coming," she says, "sir."
Roy smiles sadly, "yeah, there might as well be," he sighs, and looks at his lap.
But Edward, I need to tell you something.
Ed, I'm sorry.
I know you'll hate me for this.
The car slows down and Roy sees their destination up ahead. His hands are cold with sweat and he refuses to look out the window again. His eyes dart around the room.
I cheated on you Ed.
Roy steps out of the car with Riza.
I shouldn't have. But I couldn't cope with it. You leaving.
Riza takes his hand. Her skin is cold too, and there's pain on her face.
I would say I didn't mean for it to happen. That it just happened. But it was my mistake, and I figure I should own up to it. Here. Now.
Alphonse greets them, smiling weakly, "General. First Lieutenant."
"Hello Alphonse," Riza greets back. She doesn't dare say anything else.
"Alphonse," Roy says, "is it true? Is he really..?"
Alphonse nods. He leads them towards the house, towards Edward, fresh from battle. At rest.
It was Riza.
The door opens.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
Riza gasps.
I can only hope you can forgive me.
Roy is frozen in place.
It's really Edward. Golden, beautiful Edward.
He wants to cry, but he just can't.
So he just places the letter atop the glass coffin.
Signed, Roy Mustang.
End.
So.. um.. how did you find it? Was it okay?
Anyways, um.. I don't own Fullmetal Alchemist.. okay bye! [runs away before getting shot for always killing Ed off]
