A Surprise for his Mate

Sesshomaru just drove up to his home with a little white puppy in his passenger seat. It had a little pink bow tied loosely around her neck. He couldn't wait to show his mate, but he wanted it to be a surprise. Lucky for him her car was gone, and the house looked empty. He picked up the small little pup and carried her to the front door after locking up his car.

"Kagome," he called as he entered the house just to make sure she wasn't about. No noise answered. He closed the front door locking it before placing the little tiny pup down to sniff around. "Where shall I put you for now?" Sesshomaru mused as he noticed the little girl jump on to his foot playfully.

He swiped the pup up with a smile, "How about we get you something to eat while we wait?" A small bark came from her before she tried to lick his hands. Sesshomaru brought the little surprise with him and got them some food.

Kagome sighed as she drove up to her home. She wondered if her mate was even home. Her fingers brushed back her wavy black hair as her brown eyes looked toward the front door of her home. She had to admit she had a hard day at work with all the stress and she was glad to be home.

Kagome got out of her car, grabbing her bag before closing the door. "Home at last," she murmured as she took her keys and opened the front door. "Sess, I'm home," she called as she placed her purse on the ground and hung her coat on the hook behind the door.

"How was your day?" Sesshomaru called from the direction of their dining room.

"It's was alright," she called as she headed towards the dining room. She turned the corner and gasped. There were red and pink rose petals everywhere. A steak dinner was set on the table with candle lights. Sesshomaru sat on the other side with a huge grin. His long silver hair pulled back into a low ponytail. He had on a white dress top with the top few buttons undone and black dress pants. "What is all this?" She breathed out as she tried to take everything in.

"Happy Birthday," he spoke with his charming smile.

Her brown eyes filled with tears of happiness. "It's amazing," she whispered as her mate stood up and pulled the seat across from him out for her to take a seat. Once she was seated, he sat across from her.

"I hope you enjoy the food," he said as she picked up her fork.

"I'm sure I will," she gave him a smile. Putting a bite into her mouth, her brown eyes lit up. "This is great."

"I'm glad you like it," Sesshomaru started to eat as well.

They finished eating and Sesshomaru grabbed up their plates before Kagome had a chance. "Wait here, I have a surprise for you," he told her before disappearing into the kitchen. A few moments later a little white puff dashed toward her feet with a bright pink bow.

Her brown eyes widened in surprise as she picked up a little puppy that came up to her. Kagome gasped, a week ago she told her mate about always wanting to have a dog and now there was a small furry puppy in her arms.

"Surprise my mate," he said as he walked into the dining room.

"Sess," she squealed as she hugged onto her first pet. "Thank you so much."

"What are you going to call her?" He asked sounding curious.

"I'm going to call her, Hoshi," she answered with a brightening smile.

"That sounds beautiful, the meaning is Star," Sesshomaru said softly.

"My little Star," Kagome agreed as she rubbed her nose on the puppy's wet black nose. This was her surprise.
