Ultimate lie

This story sets about a week after the episode "Ultimate Justice."
In this episode Zorro had to cross the river of pain, fight a good fight with one of the Indian warriors and climb the wall of death. That is where Mendoza had found Zorro and borrowed his new rope so the black legend could save the alcalde.

"Is Diego alright? I haven't seen him since last Wednesday," Victoria asked while handing her only late night customer a drink.
"That day I returned from business. I found Diego being bruised all over as if he was beaten up." Don Alejandro answered and added doubtful, "An accident with his experiments in the valley, he said."
"Was he hurt badly?" she inquired.
"Black and blue all over," don Alejandro detailed, "some broken ribs, but his hands…"
Victoria recalled Mendoza telling about Zorro's bravery, when he rescued the alcalde from the Indians. Amazed she whispered, "Dios, I need flowers."
