Water

Summary: She stepped into the warm summer rain. The drops of water collected on her eyelashes and in her opaque hair. Drabble.
She stepped into the warm summer rain. The drops of water collected on her eyelashes and in her opaque hair.
She freed her hair from the long braid that ran down her back and looked at the sky.
Pinks, oranges, purples and reds made up the view she starred at. The most prominent color however, was gold.
She tilted her head to the side, and furrowed her brow, looking like a small child who was attempting to understand something that his young mind could not yet comprehend.
Blinking as the rays of the slowly setting sun shined in her eyes, she took a deep breath. She squeezed her eyes shut, scrunched up her face, and slowly angled her neck until she was looking at the rapidly changing colors of the sky.
Elphaba slowly relaxed her facial muscles and took another deep breath. As she opened her eyes, she spread her arms and fell into the soft grass and mud.
Gradually, the water began to pelt her skin and dark dress. Still, she lay there unmoving except for the occasional rise and fall of her chest as the fresh forest air entered and left her lungs.
Her mind was in a dream like state, not unthinking, but not necessarily analyzing every little detail, as in its normal state. Focused only her breathing and the rain hitting her face and hands, she slipped beneath the veil ofconsciousness.
Eventually the storm and time passed and she sat up.
Elphaba Thropp had finally accomplished one of the many things she had wanted most in life, to leave herself behind.
As she stood up and brushed herself off, she stared into the horizon. The sun had fully set by this time and the sky had transformed from a gold to a black, with the occasional white twinkle of a star.
She contemplated the hills and the little town before her, and with a small nod of her head, she set out towards the small amount of light that the town provided.
Author's Note: This is a really quick drabble that I wrote after taking a shower. Who knew showers could be so inspiring? :D What also inspired me was the following quote by an amazing author that we all know. "I wouldn't mind leaving myself behind if I could, but I don't know the way out."
Reviews make me a happy person!
