Raze was pushed out into the arena, torches and moon-light lit the area. Following him four other individuals were similarly thrust out onto the sand; people who, like himself, had been captured and forced to fight in these games. It had been a year of this, and in that time he had grown more and more eager to escape. Previous attempts had failed, he had the scars to prove it, and the magi who officiated the barbaric displays would cast dampening spells on him to control his pyromantic abilities as soon as the fights were through. Tonight would be different.

On the other side of the arena a portcullis rose and a huge troll stepped out from the darkness. The other unwilling participants backed away towards the way they had come but found that gate had been shut and barred. The crowd laughed at their cowardice and screamed encouragements of savagery.

Raze apprised the troll with a nearly bored expression on his face. The creature stood at least fourteen feet and probably weighed the better part of a ton. Raze on the other hand was and even six feet and while not muscle-bound had a lean strength that showed. The troll seeing the other "fighters" pleading to be spared laughed and turned his attention to Raze who stood his ground. In a deep gravelly voice the troll taunted,

"Pathetic humans, you scuttle like insects from me! The only one of you who doesn't is not yet a man!"

Raze felt a pang of annoyance at this, he was seventeen years old and didn't much care for people treating him like a kid, even if said person was a murderous troll. He pushed a stray lock of his shoulder length jet black hair away from his eyes and addressed the troll.

"Was you mother as ugly as you?"

The crowd erupted into laughter infuriating the troll; its pig-like eyes bulging it bellowed a roar and without further fanfare charged at Raze who smirked and summoned red mana into a ball of fire into his right hand and charged toward the troll. He poured his rage and resentment into the spell. At twenty feet from the troll he hurled the fireball at its head and went into a slide that carried him between the trolls legs as it still barreled forward. When he had passed under and come to the other side he rose to his feet. The crowd was dead silent along with the rest of the arena. Raze turned to see the headless body of the troll drop to the sand. He smiled and summoned more red mana than he ever had before, he added to it all the anger that existed within him. When he turned to the crowd his hair was a mass or fire and even his eyes seemed to burn.

"This ends now." He said simply and a hellish firestorm engulfed the arena.

A few miles away the planeswalker Chandra Nalaar felt red mana sucked away as if in a vacuum and then explode back. She looked towards the source and saw a huge column of fire in the distance.

"Interesting." she remarked, smirked, and headed toward it.
