Before this, Mindy Logan was a nurse, just out of nursing school in her home state of Michigan. Now, and after this, she was a survivor in the woods of Maryland. She could remember quite clearly when the "outbreaks" began. When the reports on the news came in, telling that it wasn't just there in Michigan, but everywhere, the entire world even in some cases. It started with a mysterious sickness, always ending in death. But what happened after death was the most jarring. The dead were rising.
The virus somehow reanimated a small part of the deceased person's brain, making them a mindless killing machine that'd eat anything living that it could get its hands on. And what was worse was that if you were bit by one of these so called "walkers", then you contracted the disease and in little time, would die and become one of them. The biggest cities fell first. New York, Manhattan, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angelus, Hollywood, Boston, Miami, and even Atlanta. People panicked and society fell. Everything instantly went from hell to worst. Mindy, who'd practically grown up in the wilderness, packed her bags and decidedly headed south. She never spent too long in one location, always moving and never with anyone. No strings attached, so effortlessly, no one to care for. No one to have to kill when or if they were bit. Or at least, until about a year ago. She hadn't meant to get ambushed by a group of assfucks, but it'd happened. To make matters worse, as Mindy stumbled drenched in blood, she came upon a compound. Large steel walls with a mansion looming from within. And it was on a hill. She approached with caution, only to be welcomed in. Oddly enough, they helped her. They bandaged her wounds and treated her like one of their own. Even more weird, was that she hadn't been treated this nicely since before all this apocalyptic crap happened in the first place.
Now, nearly a year after coming here, to the place the people here called, Hilltop, Mindy felt right again. She had a purpose as one of the medics, providing provisions and bandages. Even when the Saviors came, killing and making demands. Nothing more that a bunch of overly selfish aholes with knives and no regrets. Now, the Hilltopians owed half everything to the Saviors, who were almost biker gang members who followed the mysterious Negan, who from rumors, was purely evil. Pure evil wielding a baseball bat covered in spikes. Luckily, he hadn't come to Hilltop yet, but Mindy knew it was only a matter of time before he did.
Meanwhile, after alliancing with the group known as the Alexandrians, who'd promised to kill Negan's group in exchange for food, Mindy had more important fish to go fry. Starting with Jesus, the "co- leader" at Hilltop. Although a douche named Gregory was in charge, Jesus did most of the ground work. No, Jesus wasn't actually the biblical messiah, although he did happen to look like him (Mindy had been catholic before the apocalypse). But, Jesus had been the one to help her adapt to Hilltop. Maybe they had a relationship, maybe they didn't. The two did indeed spend lots of time together, so when Mindy was asked to move to Alexandria, she obliged. Occasionally, Jesus would come, mostly for business. But, when Jesus wasn't chatting negotiations, he visited Mindy. And, sometimes they made out. For Mindy though, everything seemed fine now. Until the day she heard the roar of the motorcycles. And then the screams.
