"No."
It was the first thing that he heard after the door to the loft had slid open. Dalton had figured that Gus saw what he'd been trying to hide all morning. His opportunity came when the older of the two had left to get some coffee. Their own machine had an unfortunate encounter with the dishwasher . . . speaking of he'd have to call the repairman first thing Monday morning. They were supposed to be at his dad's place in half an hour for an Easter Brunch. Than later, they would join both sets of Gus' parents and younger brother and, sister at the Novotny house for dinner.
Dalton hung his head but not in defeat. He could get away with this just once; Gus owed him that much after the diaper incident. He took a deep breath before exiting the room and stood at the top of the steps. "Hi,"
"What did you do, to our kid?!"
Ah, so he was skipping right to the point than. "Nothing . . . he looks cute." Dalton replied as he brought his arms across his chest.
"He doesn't look cute. He looks like a. a.."
"Wittle blue bunny?"
"Don't even." Gus plucked the kid out of the stroller and turned him around. Dalton had to hold in his laughter as his boyfriend discovered the cottontail attached to the bottom. He looked back with a straight face as Gus' own face flushed. "It has a tail."
"It's cute."
"This is not cute Dalton." Gus tugged at the ears, which were attached firmly to the thin blue hoody. Their son squealed in surprise as he was turned over.
"What are you doing?"
"Looking for the zipper."
"There's no zipper." He walked over and took their kid away from the frantic young man. "Would you relax, this is what he's wearing, and there is nothing you can do to change my mind."
"You know when I asked you to dress him I didn't mean to traumatize him."
"The only one whose traumatizing him is you, you big goof." Dalton replied with a smile on his face. "Don't listen to Daddy little guy you like this outfit don't you."
Unfortunately the little guy had already been moved too much and what he thought didn't matter. At that moment the contents of his last bottle came back up all over his new outfit and his Dada's shirt.
Gus would later tell him that their son had a smirk on his face the entire time.
