"Damn it Cass, don't do that." I snapped at the angel as he suddenly appeared in the motel room we were currently staying in.

Castiel merely tilted his head to the side as if confused at my statement. "Dean"

At my yell Sam had rushed out of the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Castiel. What are you doing here?" Sam gave the angel a friendly smile.

The angel turned a cool gaze on Sam before greeting him with a simple "Sam" then turning back to me. I felt myself scowl in annoyance, after noticing that he had completely ignored Sam's question. The angel had always been icy towards my baby brother. My scowl deepened as I noticed the smile disappear from Sammy's face and his eyes dropped to the floor. Although he never said anything I knew that the angel's obvious dislike of him bothered my brother. After all it had always been Sam who had prayed, who had faith. He still had hope but I, well, there's always a catch.

"Well? What are you doing here?" I snapped, deliberately using Sam's words.

"An angel has been killed" Cass said in an emotionless voice.

"And what does that have to do with us?" I stressed the word 'us' in an attempt to include Sam.

"We do not know who did it. We want you to find out."

"Don't you have some sort of angel Internal Affairs for that?" then seeing the glimmer of confusion in his eyes I added "never mind. Why do you need us to find out?"

"It has been requested. I do not question."

"Of course you don't" I muttered before turning to Sam. "What da'ya think Sam?"

"Sure. We're not doing anything at the moment so why not?"

The stoic angel again turned his piercing gaze to Sam. His eyes dropped to the floor once more before muttering something about getting dressed and striding back to the bathroom.

My gaze followed Sam's quick exit before turning back to the stoic angel. I considered questioning him, again, about his treatment of Sam but decided he wouldn't answer.

"So, Cass, where are we heading?"

"Desperation" Cass answered.

"Desperation? Seriously? Where the Hell is that?"

"Aww, come on!" I muttered as the angel disappeared with a flutter of invisible wings.

"Guess it's time to get researching, huh." Sam had reappeared behind me in time to hear the angels answer.

I groaned. More research. And all we had to go on was the Desperation and a dead angel. I just watched as Sam pulled his laptop towards him and sat down at the small table.
