Author's Notes: This is just something that came to my head!

Kain walked leisurely towards the balcony. Even though most would say he looked bored, he was actually very excited. Ruka had finally said yes to him when he had asked her to dance. Her hair had been done up in an elegant bun and fastened with a silver brooch; she had looked stunning. But her eyes had looked so sad; probably because her beloved Kaname had rejected her (nothing new there) but she had said yes. His black leather shoes sped up the pace as he thought of her.
He finally reached the balcony, but Ruka was nowhere to be seen. He walked to the edge of the balcony in frustration, why did this happen? Kain had never taken any interests in a relationship, but now that he had taken a chance…
Sighing, he finished the wine in the glass he was holding. Suddenly he felt someone grab him from behind. He tried to get free but to no avail. He finally landed a kick and managed to slip free. But just as soon as he was turning to flee into the ballroom, he felt strong arms drag him. After a while they got to the woods at the edge of the campus. The thug holding him gagged him and started tying his wrists behind his back. The man started to kick and punch the living daylights out of him.
What is happening?, he thought in a daze. Had they kidnapped Ruka?? Speaking of the devil, her silhouette appeared from the darkness. Her eyes were cold and calculating.
"That's enough, I don't think he'll give you any trouble." The man nodded and started to haul his limp body onto his shoulder.
"Wait, I want to explain to him." I'd like that very much, Kain thought bitterly. After the guy was out of earshot, she kneeled down in front of him.
"I know you're wondering why I'm doing this," he couldn't respond, obviously, and just glared up at her. Her eyes had softened back to their sadness.
"Kaname has never loved me, he never will. But I still love him and am capable of anything, ANYTHING to keep him safe!" She paused wiping away a tear.
"A few nights ago, the vampire hunter council came to me and told me that they planned to kidnap Kaname! They needed a hostage for a deal with the vampire council and were going to force me to help them! I pleaded with them and they settled for a noble…"
"No one else would have agreed to meet me out there alone, either because they don't trust or like me, or because they are too absorbed in the dance. But you, I knew you would agree." Kain was starting to lose consciousness. Ruka leaned down and planted a kiss on his cheek.
"I'm so sorry." But by then he was already gone.
Author's Notes: I just wanted to do a sad little drabble about this! I think Ruka would be capable of something so cruel for Kaname! PLEASE REVIEW! :D
