A/N: I'm actually writing a chapter fic now and have a beta, so hopefully that will be up soon! Also, this is one of those approximately 1AM fics, so I'm sorry if there's any obvious mistakes.

Disclaimer: I don't own Wicked.

"Nessa," Boq said, sitting down in a chair near her in the parlor of the mansion. "I've got something I should tell you…I probably should have a long time ago."

"Yes?" Nessa said, looking at him. She was looking at him straight in the eye, but there was just something wrong with the way she looked. It almost made Boq shiver.

"I…I want to break up because…well, because I never really liked you in that way," Boq stated, almost cringing. "But I would like to part as friends." Nessa just stared at him, a blank expression on her face.

"Father's dead. I'm…I'm the governor now," Nessa said, her voice mixed with worry, dread, and maybe even a little bit of fear. She bit her bottom lip then looked up at Boq.

"Oh, Nessa, I'm so sorry…" Boq said, coming over to her, even though he wasn't sure what to do. But she stopped him.

"But you want to…leave me," Nessa thought out loud, a look of deep thought on her face. "You want to leave me just like everyone else did and I…I thought you were different."

Her face now had a look of sadness on it, and a tear trickled down her cheek. He could tell she was now holding back the tears.

"No, Nessa, really," he told her, kneeling next to her wheelchair, putting his hand on her arm. "I am sorry."

She just sat there for a few, looking at him. She started to lightly cry, and without taking her arm away whispered, "Boq, you were the only person who didn't abandon me. I love you, and…" she trailed off. "You're going to regret this."

Before he could say anything, she added on to that. "Stay here," she said in a commanding tone, taking her arm away then wheeling into another room. Boq said back down, puzzled and worried. Nessa didn't handle power very well, and her emotions sometimes got the better of her…

-----

She went into the office, the tears really now coming down. How could he do this to her? What was wrong with her? What was it?

But that wouldn't matter, because she knew a way he would have to stay with her. And she would find ways to make herself better for him. Oh, yes, she definitely would.

She wheeled herself to the desk, and pulled out a certain piece of paper, almost recklessly. She picked up a pen and was about to write, then got second thoughts.

Should I do this to him? She thought to herself. Does he deserve it? She bit her tongue in thought. Yes, especially after what he did to you… But was it really that bad? Yes. Just because he did it nicely doesn't make it nice…

And then she wrote one of the many orders she would sign as the governor of Munchkinland.

-----

"Boq," she said as she wheeled herself out to him.

"Yes?" he asked. She handed him the paper, which he read with an appalled look on his face.

"Did…you…really?" he almost stuttered, but she cut him off.

"Yes, I really did," she answered almost wickedly.

Boq felt angry. She had crossed the line…enslavement was morally wrong. Oh, he didn't care how shelooked at it, but she had enslaved him.

He stood up, his anger slightly taking the better of him. He gingerly handed back the paper to her.

"Good day, Madame Governor." He told her, walking off into another room.

Nessa cringed at the name. Madame Governor? When he called her that, she felt disappointed and…well, sad. Being called Madame Governor couldn't be a good thing…
