Zach had watched his daughter race around the house all week. Now as he got home from the office he could see that Aly was just barely refraining from jumping up and down. As soon as he walked into the house she wrapped her little arms around his neck and squealed "Daddy your home!".
He smiled. "Where's your mom Aly?"
"I'm here." Cammie said coming out of the kitchen wiping her hands on a towel. She then moved towards him and kissed him on the cheek.
"Mommy can we give him his gift now? Pretty please with ice cream on top?" Aly begged.
"After dinner."
"What do I get a gift for?" he asked playing innocent.
"Oh daddy your so silly it's Father's Day."
Zach watched his daughter all through dinner, trying to see if she would give away his gift.
"Is it small?" He questioned.
Aly just smiled. "You'll see."
"Is it a pet goat?" That made Aly giggle.
"You'll see after dinner Daddy."
"Hmmm. What could it be?" He mused trying to get Aly to slip up.
Aly just smirked at her dad not falling for the trick.
Finally dinner came to an end.
"Mommy now can we give it to him?"
"Alright go get it from Mommy and Daddy's bedroom."
Aly raced off to go retrieve the mysterious present. Cammie stood up and walked over to Zach. Then she placed her arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips. Zach smirked when he heard a squeal of "EW!".
"MOMMY! We have to give Daddy his present! You said we could after dinner!"
Cammie smiled. "Alright my little impatient girl go ahead and give it to him."
Aly skipped forward and handed Zach a blue gift bag. On the bag it said 'Happy Father's Day!" in bubbly green letters. Zach pulled the tissue paper out of the bag only to discover a photo album inside. Looking at the cover it had a picture of him through the cutout hole and also the words ' #1 Dad!" written in puffy paint.
Zach sat down on the floor and motioned for Aly to sit on his lap. Cammie sat to his right. Zach flipped through the photos. First it showed his and Cammie's wedding day. Then a picture of himself holding Aly at the hospital when she was born. Flipping through he remembered everything as if it had happened yesterday. All the days he had spent with his girls. Last was a picture of his muddy handprint next to Cammie's and Aly's muddy handprints on a stone that said "Bless our family".
He wrapped one arm around Cammie and the other around Aly and hugged them close.
"This is the best Father's Day present ever. I love you two so much!"
Aly looked up at him with her big green eyes and said "We love you too Daddy!"
Here's to all the Dad's in the world! I love mine dearly and I don't know what I'd do with out him.
Dad this is to you for always being there!
