A Stone's Throw Away

Momiji & Momo

OR

Violin Duet

Momiji watched over Momo the same way an older sibling would look after the younger one. But then again, why wouldn't he? He was her older brother, after all. Even if she didn't know it.

And so, many years went by and still Momiji continued to watch her. He watched her grow from a safe distance away, but at the same time, he was watching her from as close as he was allowed to get to her.

He loved her. But she didn't even know he was her brother. She didn't even know they were related. She didn't even know who he was. She didn't even know his name…

Momo watched the strange boy play his violin from her favorite secret hiding spot. She didn't know him very well, but she still couldn't help but be curious about him. He was kind-hearted, sweet, and caring; she knew at least that much about him. And she knew his name was Momiji. Yes, she knew that much about him too.

Momo listened as he practiced the song "Wish Upon a Star" on his violin. It wasn't perfect yet, but it still sounded beautiful to Momo. She thought he was the best violin player in the world.

It was because of Momiji that Momo had started playing the violin in the first place. She hoped that one day, when she learned to play better, they would be able to play together. Maybe he could even teach her how to play…

Tohru cried at the irony of it all. The two were so close…and yet, they still couldn't be together. Even though they wanted to see each other, there was always something in their way, something that was blocking them. There was always something in between them that prevented them from being together.

And even though they were so close, even though the two were only a stone's throw away…

…….they couldn't have been farther apart.

It was a part of the curse.

It's short but that's okay. I hope you all liked it and if you did please review. If you didn't like it I suppose you can review too, but only as long as you don't flame me. Anyways, I intend on making a couple more oneshots like this with some of the other Fruits Basket characters. They'll most likely all not be very long. Sorry. I plan on doing one on Arisa and Kureno, Rin and Haru, Kyoko and Katsuya, Hatori and Mayu, and Kyo and Tohru. If you have any other suggestions for other characters, please feel free to offer some. This does not guarantee that I will do a oneshot on them, so please don't feel offended if I don't. I'll try to do as many as I can though. Review!
