Hey there! So...I have to study for the first quarter exams...GAH! And I made this piece of writing just before the deadly computer-ban-and-study-for-the-exams treatment. *sweatdrops*
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this randomness~!
READ FIRST: The Italics are the flashbacks while they're in the meadow. It's pretty random but please bare with me. hihi.
What I Have Learned
5-year-old Sakura smiled broadly as she held 9-year-old Itachi's hand. They were walking back to their favorite spot under the shade of the tree near the Uchiha manor.
She kept on smiling as they sat down on the soft lush grass. Then she noticed the Uchiha taking out a clean sheet of paper and a pen from his pants pocket.
"Sakura-chan, here. Write down all what you have learned during our little trip at the meadow."
"Wow! Ita-san, it's soo pretty!"
The black-haired smiled at the pinkette. "I'm glad you liked it."
"Liked it? I love it! We could play here anytime we want!"
She tugged his shirt and asked, "Can we?"
He chuckled and patted her head. "Why not?"
Without hesitation, she snatched the paper and pen from him and scribbled like mad. Her penmanship isn't that quite good but it's legible enough. And when she was done, she handed the list to Itachi.
I learned that I was named after the cherry blossom tree.
I learned that Itachi means 'Weasel'.
I learned that we're special.
He pointed at the big tree with pink petals which are perfectly attached on the branches. "Did you know that your name means cherry blossom?"
Her jade orbs widened like saucers in amusement as she stared at the beauty upon her. "Sakura…cherry blossom…" she repeated. "Oka-san said that I was special, special like a cherry blossom tree among maple trees."
All of the sudden, a pang of curiosity crossed her mind. "But what does 'Itachi' mean?"
His onyx eyes twitched at the question.
"Ita-san? What's the matter? Did I say something bad?"
Itachi composed himself and tried to breathe evenly. "No, it's not that."
"Then what is it?"
"'Itachi' means…" he lowered his voice, hoping Sakura would not be to hear it. "'Weasel'…"
But instead of laughing at the strange meaning, she embraced him a big hug. "There, there, Ita-san. Don't be sad." She can feel the pain.
I learned that roses have thorns.
I learned that birds make their nests on trees.
I learned that fishes are really good swimmers.
The list went on and on as he read it. But what really caught his attention was the last sentence written in huge bold letters.
I LEARNED THAT ITACHI-SAN IS THE PERSON I WANT TO BE WITH FOREVER AND EVER AND I KNOW HE FEELS THAT SAME WAY.
He looked up with a surprised look and saw a blushing pinkette.
So that's what she's smiling about, eh? he figured.
"Sakura?"
"Uh…" How cute was the speechless Sakura! He lightly poked her wide forehead and chuckled.
"Ow…what's that for?"
Now it was his turn to grin.
Pink petals were falling over them, showering their delicate beauty.
She was still hugging him, trying to make him feel better.
She was the only one who sincerely didn't make fun of his name. Though the other kids were too scared to show it, he could sense that they're laughing their socks off inside. Though a child prodigy, he is still human. But this time, she didn't show the smallest hint of laughter. It's like she's willing to ease the pain.
He responded to her embrace and held her tightly, afraid to lose her, assuring himself that she is his special someone.
"I always knew you'll get it."
