Insomniac, this is what he'd turned me into! my mind was a buzz of energy and there was nothing i could do to calm it, the thought of those piercing green eyes being so near but so far from me was intolerable! silently slipping out of bed i made my way to the door, the last thing i needed was for the entire Athena cabin to awaken to me sneaking out.
ducking behind trees and bushes, racing in to shadows, is this really how i was spending my precious sleep time? i thought to myself upon arriving outside the poseidon cabin. here goes nothing. gently tapping on the door i received no reply, opting for the stealthy option i eased open to door. i was greeted by the sight of my boyfriend spread eagle on his back in a peaceful slumber, tiptoeing my way to the edge of the bed i peeled back the covers to unveil his semi-toned body.
"seaweed brain?" i whispered close to his ear
"hm-phh ... flapjack" he mumbled
hmph! "percy!" i said in a louder tone, gently nudging his shoulder
he awoke with a sheepish look on his face, sleepily taking in his surroundings until he focused on me fully and sat bolt upright
"what's wrong? what's happened? are you ok?"
"no, i cant sleep and here you are dreaming of flapjack!"
he sighed lightly and extended his arms out to me, taking my hands in his he tugged slightly until my knees hit the edge of the bed, my knees buckled with the contact to the bed, causing me to crawl on to the mattress into his ready arms. as both of us laid there in each others arms i was overcome with a sense of security and serenity, causing me to fall unceremoniously into the land of nod.
looking down at the sleeping girl in my arms i couldn't help but smile to myself, Annabeth Chase was stubborn, self reliant, strong hearted, and one hell of a fighter, but seeing her curled up in my arms all i could think about was how unbelievably lucky i was to be holding this beautiful girl in my arms, and with one final eye flutter, i too fell asleep.
