On Never Coming Home

Summary: Time goes by for an eternal blob of energy. It was supposed to be a Valentine's Day fic, and I sort of…overshot.

It didn't seem like a year. But then, most of her years had been spent doing thousands of little things during which her sister and friends built up to one final climax.

At which point they would have an Apocalypse.

But this year was like reading a book on how to whittle stakes. No Big Bads. No Hell Goddess(es). No psychotic friends. A year of being normal and all she could think about was being in the middle of an apocalypse.

Sometimes she wondered why she hadn't been the one with the superpowers, before remembering that she'd been created out of infinite energy by a bunch of monks. And then she remembered that people who were eager to play the part, ended up dead or in jail.

A clock chimed and her gaze jerked back to the present, back to the calendar in front of her.

Red circling the big day. Hands covered her eyes and she smiled.

She leaned back and her lover whispered, "Happy V-day, babe."
