A/N: I don't own Spider-Man. This is set in Earth 148304, just saying.
"Stromm, are you a fan of Greek mythology?" Norman Osborn asked his co-worker.
Stromm paused for a second and hastily replied "No sir."
Norman picked up a spider from the dinner table where he accidently elbowed an animal trainer next to him.
The trainer pulled a hunting knife from his ripped jean pocket. "Goblin King, what the hell!"
Osborn rolled his eyes and rose his clawed right hand. "Now, Sergei, we're at the table, not in public. Let's not be dolts and use our circus names." Sergei muttered something about Osborn being a royal douche and went back to eating. Norman turned back to Stromm, who's hair was all spiked up as he was the mad scientist of the circus. "In Greek mythology, there was a mortal spinstress, who boasted she was better at spinning than Athena. Her name was Arachne. When Athena heard about this she came down to earth and challenged Arachne to a spin-off of sorts. When Arachne won, Athena changed the woman into a spider."
"And you wanted to tell me this, why?" Stromm asked as he eyed the spider Osborn was holding carefully between his knife like finger nails.
"I perfected a way to genetically alter a spiders dna!" Norman said in a hushed tone. As he said this, the spider ran away, it's scarlet and black body scampering towards the nearest building: Winthrop High.
Chase Spharus sat quietly at his desk and looked at the calendar waiting for the day he turned 14, 6/13/2020. 'two more days' he thought, a wave of euphoria lapping through his body.
"CHASE!" Mr. Toomes shouted from behind his desk
"Yes, Mr. Toomes?" Chase asked politely.
"Have you noticed that you're late for your next class?" Toomes sneered letting Chase look around the room and see everyone was gone. What he didn't notice was a spider, or more specifically, a black widow crawling through the open window. As Chase bent down to get his back pack the widow clamped its slimy fangs into his knuckle. Chase screamed as he saw the widow.
His vision changed as he was looking through his bloodstream, a blackish liquid was coursing through his veins, attaching to the blood particles, his muscles, and strands of his dna.
He woke up in a hospital, his usual blue and red Spider-Man shirt was peeled from his body, and his jeans were replaced with a white hospital gown. "What the hell . . ." he whispered. He looked at his knuckle, and what he saw was really grotesque. The knuckle was swollen and tinted swirls of red and green were covering the lump of skin. "I need to get out of here." He whispered.
On the other side of town a winged figure was speeding through the sky, dodging flying birds, and chomped on any that came too close. Chase jumped out the window and realized he was on the second floor. "SHIT!" he yelled before sticking his hand out towards a tree to try and catch onto a branch.
A strand of white liquid shot from his wrist and he started to climb up the liquid, which had changed into a solid. When he got to the branch he said two words: "Hell. Yes."
