Anshin no Yume – Revelation –

A copper headed pink-clothed samurai was pacing the floors of a hospital hallway. He sighed, and sat down. It had been hours since he last saw his wife; and he wanted to know if she was okay, that he did.

Behind the wall sat a girl with her long, midnight black hair tied up to keep it out of her face, with a raven-haired woman working over her. She had been having to do extra-care on the girl, seeing as the child she was carrying was breech.

"Hang on, Kaoru," the woman said, as she tried to help the baby find it's way out of it's mother. The only thing she could really do was hope that with some cutting that the child would be able to live, and circum life.

And, after about an hour of this work, the woman looked down at the midnight-haired girl.

"Push, Kaoru," she said, trying to oversee that everything was going correctly.

The girl tried as hard a she could, and the baby's head could be seen; within an hour or two the child should be born, and nothing would be wrong. The doctor only hoped this to be so.

Kenshin sat with his sakabatou in his hand; clutching it tightly. Yahiko, his and Kaoru's friend who was now of the age of 14, could see his worry. He sighed, and stared at the elder man.

"She will be fine, Kenshin."

"Sessha.. Sessha cannot help but worry," the redhead replied, looking down. This was true, he couldn't help but worry. Kaoru was his wife, why would he not care?

The baby was almost halfway delivered, but his mother seemed to be weak. The woman sighed,

"Keep trying, Kaoru. It will be over soon, I promise."

"Hai.. Megumi.."

Kenshin stood up, to which Yahiko had to try his best to restrain him. "Kenshin, she will be fine. Trust me, okay?"

Kenshin hung his head. He started pacing again, when a cry was heard from behind the shoji doors.

"See, Kenshin?" Yahiko told him, "I told you everything would be alright."

Kenshin smiled slightly, as the door slid open.

"Congratulations, Himura-san. You have a son," Megumi said. Kenshin couldn't help but notice the amount of blood on her hands; yet Kaoru seemed to be fine. Megumi was a very good doctor, that she was.

Entering the small room, Kenshin saw his wife holding a small, pink bundle. She was exhausted, but she seemed to be happy none the less. As long as she was happy and safe, Kenshin was content.

"I'd like you to meet someone, Anata..," Kaoru said to him, as Kenshin bit his lip. He moved closer to Kaoru, and noticed that the child had dark copper hair, kind of like his.

"Hello there, little one," Kenshin said to the bundle. It was asleep, and looked as if one false movement would shatter it into thousands of pieces.

Kaoru offered the bundle to her husband, to which Kenshin took with the most serene care. His violet eyes glistened, as his child opened his indigo-blue eyes to meet with father's. Kenshin smiled.

"What should we call him, Anata?" Kaoru asked the redhead, noticing he was entranced in the smaller redhead's gaze.

"Kenji," the redhead said, glancing at the boy. "We shall call him Kenji."

"Kenji's perfect," Kaoru responded, smiling at the boy.

The baby grabbed a lock of Kenshin's hair and gave it a slight tug. Kaoru was amused. "He likes you already, Kenshin."
