CHAPTER ONE

Block Estate,
Massie's Room,
6:15 p.m.

"Massie, I called to tell you I can't come,"

Massie's eyes widened in disbelief as she clutched her cell phone to her ear.
"What are you talking about, Leesh?" Massie snapped.

"We've been planning this sleep-over for weeks, plus it's the only one we have before school," Massie added, pacing the starch-white floor of her room.

She could hear Alicia give an exasperated sigh on the phone.
"Massie, this is more important then a slumber party,"

Massie rolled her eyes.
"What? Meeting some wanna-be Opera that your Dad lawyers for?"
"No," Alicia said quickly, her voice now icy.
"Ever heard of Melissa Kingsmen?"

"Duh, Leesh – like, all the models for Seveteen, Ellegirl, and Teen Vogue come from her runways," Massie rolled her eyes again at the stupidity of Alicia's question.

"Her family's with us for a few weeks,"

For a few moments, a deadly silence took over.
But Massie quickly interrupted it with a snort of disbelief.

"Nice try, Alicia. This coming from the same girl who told Josh Hotz Ralph Lauren was eating dinner at her house?" Massie flipped her charm bracelet, letting the charms jingle, as if they were laughing at Alicia's joke.

"I'm not kidding." Alicia's tone was still serious and cold.
"Look, if you don't want to believe me, fine, I have to go."

She wouldn't have the guts to hang up the phone on m-

Alicia proved Massie's thoughts wrong, when she heard the long beeping noise her phone made once her best friend had hung up.

Quickly, Massie re-dialed Alicia's number.
"What?" Alicia asked, irritated when she picked up after the umpteenth ring.

"Heyyy, Leesh – I have an idea," Massie smiled coyly, sitting down carefully on her bed as she crossed her legs in a model-like fashion.
"Why don't me, Dylan, Kristen, and Claire sleepover at your house. You know, so we can all meet the Melissa Kingsmen?"

"Kay," Alicia replied, trying to sound cheerful, but she still ended up sounding reluctant.
"I'll drive Clair, Kristen, and Dlyan over. See ya in ten!" Massie grinned, snapping her cell phone shut as she jumped up from her bed.

Ignoring Bean, who was prancing around her heels, and giving playful yips, Massie opened the doors to her walk-in closet.

Just in case Alicia hadn't been lying, she had to look good if she saw Melissa Kingsmen.
Massie smiled, remembering the photo shoot she had done with the girls in Christmas, when she and Alicia had been enemies.

She would make Melissa Kingsmen see that she was model-material!
