Assassin's Creed: The Last King Of Rome
Chapter I: Ruler Among Men
Lazio, Italy, 1507
Ezio Auditore da Firenze was perched atop a small light hanging looking over the large commune of Lazio, Rome. Ezio knew that nothing would go down in Lazio without his consultation, Ezio may not have been in charge by law, but the inhabitants of Lazio knew that he was a man to fear. He was the Master Assassin of the Brotherhood.
Upon arrival into the city Ezio had slaughtered the King of Rome, his family and many of his guards, no one dared to go against the word of Ezio Auditore.
Ezio hopped down from the lighting fixture and didn't even make a whisper of a sound as he landed on the cobble stone ground, Ezio continued to walk down a darkened alley until he heard a loud bang, Ezio dived into a shadow and disappeared, he glanced around the alley but couldn't see a thing. He climbed up onto the nearest building to get a better look into the city, Ezio was stunned at what he saw, fireworks in the sky, he could hear a faint cheering, he wondered what was going on and started venturing toward the cheering. Ezio finally reached a crowd of people, almost the whole city, and they were all crowded around one man. This man was rather big, and seemed to have a lot of influence on the people, he was surrounded by guards and templars, Ezio felt his face twist into a scowl, Ezio hated templars. Then one of the guards (the master guard) began to speak:
"People of Lazio, may I have your attention. You have been called here for one reason, you are sick and tired of being pushed around and told what to do by the people who think they own this city...we as guards...can not allow this, so over the past weeks ourselves and other templars have scoured the nation of Italia in search of a man worthy of running this commune. After many, many weeks of searching, we found this man, Prince Jean Machiavelli, a man who is known for his great leadership, and now...YOUR NEW KING!"
Ezio's body filled with anger and hatred, Ezio despised Royalty and knew that every single monarch was corrupt and dangerously powerful, Ezio jumped down onto the ground into the middle of the crowd, this time making a sharp thud as his feet hit the ground. "How dare you disobey me, the commune is under my ruling, and this man cannot be appointed King under my jurisdiction" shouted Ezio to the guards, the Prince laughed loudly and spat something in Italian at Ezio, "You...Auditore? You think you are the big man, you think you know that I am a bad man, when in reality, you know of nothing my friend" spoke Machiavelli. Ezio scowled at the Prince Jean and continued to speak, "If you go ahead with this, you will pay the price, as will your family and anyone else who stands between me and my native country's freedom, are you willing to take the risk and become King and put both you and your family's life on my hit list? Or are you smart and willing to back away now and leave this city free and under control of a real ruler" Ezio tried to reason with Machiavelli but the Prince just smiled placed a large gold crown on top of his head, "Ezio Auditore da Firenze, you will be the one to pay the price, if you come near me you will be killed immediately" snarled the new King. "Who says I have to be near you to wipe out both you and your entire family? You have just made the biggest mistake of your life, I tried to reason with you, but you disagreed, and now you pay the price, I will kill you...but when you least expect it" Ezio smiled and walked into the shadows and disappeared, the look of fear on his face was enough for Ezio to know that King Jean was now living on borrowed time.
