Okay, I wanted to do Finnick's POV of the proposal thing. I'm not good at writing in a guy's POV, because I'm a girl, so I have no idea as to what guys think/feel when they propose...
Now if Finnick and/or Annie seem OOC, please review and tell me. But even if they don't seem OOC, please review anyway!
Disclaimer: I do not own The Hunger Games. Sigh... I wish I did, though.
"Plutarch, I want to propose to Annie."
"Ah, Finnick, perfect timing as always… you see, we figured that an entertainment propo would be great at this point in time. You can have your wedding and I can have my propo. Is that a deal?" Plutarch asked. He extended his hand for me to shake. I shake it. If this is the condition, so be it.
"It's a deal."
"The sky is stunning today, Finnick," Annie says. I smile at her, and she smiles back. If only she knew how stunning she really is. She's ten times, no, a hundred times more stunning than that sky, with her soft, silky brown hair and her green eyes that change to a blue-green when she smiles.
Oh, how I want to whip out the ring and get it done already. But no, it's not the right time. Not yet.
"Yes, just like you, my beautiful Annie," I reply sincerely. Annie blushes, then, all of a sudden she snorts. "What's so funny, Annie?" I ask. Annie keeps laughing and doesn't stop. What's so funny? I don't understand. All I said was that she was pretty. Nothing to be laughing about, right?
"Nothing, nothing. It's just that… how can you say I'm beautiful when you're absolutely gorgeous, Finnick?" she asks. I don't answer. It's probably a rhetorical question. "You're the one adored, loved by everybody. And who am I? I'm just a mad girl, Finnick. I don't deserve you." Not true.
Annie brings out a mat and places it over the sand. She sits down. I follow suit. "But Annie," I say, "you're not just a mad girl. And it is I who doesn't deserve you." I kiss her on the lips.
"Finnick…" Annie says, "I don't understand. How can you love someone like me? I'm all… broken. You deserve someone who is whole, someone who won't get lost in her nightmares. I don't deserve someone like you. I don't understand why you…"
"But I want you, Annie, my love," I say, pulling her in for another kiss. After, I say, "You don't have to understand why, just know that I love you, and I always will, no matter what." And I mean it. I think this would be a good time to pull out the ring, but I let Annie speak first.
"I'll always love you too, Finnick, even if you grow tired of loving me," Annie replies, blushing a lot.
What? Grow tired of loving her? Annie? It's impossible to grow tired of loving her. Even the thought of it… it's simply ridiculous. I laugh. "I'll never grow tired of loving you, Annie." I say. Now's my chance. "That's why I have to ask you a really, really important question." I pull out the box and pop it open, revealing the ring. "Annie Cresta, I can't live without you. Will you marry me, Annie?"
Annie's mouth gapes open, and my heart skips a beat. "Yes!" she exclaims. That's when I become the happiest man on Earth.
"Thank you," I say, relieved. There was a possibility that Annie would say no. It's unlikely, but there was still a possibility. I grin at my fiancée. She grins back. I pull her in for another kiss.
I regret many things I have done in the past. But this one thing I will never regret doing.
