"Are you hiding something?" Erik asked from his snickering wife whose back was pressed to the closed kitchen door.
"Yes," Christine giggled.
"I don't like surprises."
"You will this one." She took him by the hand. "Come on."
After opening the door she revealed a cake on the table with several glowing candles on top.
"I don't understand," he stammered. "Your birthday is not today."
She smiled suggestively. "It's the 18th of May." Still, he had no idea. "Your nameday! And since you don't have a birthday I decided that today it will be."
His eyes wandered slowly to the cake than back to her. "For me?" He managed.
"Yes. Happy birthday, my love."
She was crushed in his embrace before he realized he even moved but she didn't seem to mind it: her arms returned his hold with a matching fervor.
"I take it that you still like surprises a little," she told him at last, her voice muffled by his shoulder.
"Do you think it was so obvious?" He teased, trying to even his voice. Unsuccessfully.
"I could pretend I didn't notice it," she offered.
"I'd rather like you to know about it," he murmured, pulling her closer.
