A/N: I know it's short, but I had an idea and I couldn't just let it go.
Annabeth loved silence. Especially in the morning. The beach was very quiet, possibly the only quiet place this Sunday morning in Camp Half-Blood.. The arena was too far away so no sound of clashing swords reached her ears. There were very few new Athena campers this summer and all of them were quick learners, so nothing to do there either. All in all, she was quite enjoying this morning alone at the beach. It was so peaceful.
Which was how she was sure it wasn't going to last.
"Aarghfshd!" And there it is.
Annabeth sighed. "Percy? Are you alright?"
Percy Jackson, was sprinting towards where she sitting on the beach, horror evident on his face.
"Annabeth, look at this! Look!" Percy said hysterically, pointing towards his hand.
Annabeth got up from her position on the beach and looked at what he was pointing towards.
In his hand, Percy held a single packet of chips.
She narrowed her eyes, "Where did you get this from?"
Percy stopped panicking for a moment and looked sheepishly at her.
"The Stolls?"
Annabeth shook her head. "I should've known. If Chiron finds out, those guys are going to be in big trouble. They've already been caught twice. Now, what did you want to show me?"
Percy pointed again at the packet of chips. Annabeth looked a little more closely and realized he was pointing at the ingredients section.
"Ingredients: Potato, Edible Vegetable Oil, *Spices & Condiments (Onion powder, Chili powder, Amchur, Coriander powder, Ginger powder, Parsley powder, Garlic powder, Tumeric Powder, Black pepper powder, Fenugreek powder), Salt, Black Salt, Milk Solids, Tomato powder, Sugar, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid," she read out loud. "What's special about that?"
"The last ingredient, Annabeth. Just look at it!" he said, sounding shocked that she hadn't already got it.
"The last ingredient…mm…Tartaric acid? What about it?" she asked.
"Tartaric acid, Annabeth! Don't you realize what that sounds like? Tatarus!" Percy said, back into panic mode.
Annabeth stared at him for a moment, contemplating. Then she went back to her position on the beach. She looked back at Percy. He was standing in the same place, looking thoroughly confused. She thought he looked quite adorable like that.
"Sit down, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth said, suppressing her laughter.
He sat down beside her, still looking at her with a confused face.
"Tartaric acid is a white crystalline water-soluble dicarboxylic acid. It occurs naturally in many plants, particularly grapes, bananas and tamarinds. It is commonly combined with baking soda to function as a leavening agent in recipes, and is one of the main acids found in wine," she explained.
Percy was quite for a minute.
"So, not acid from tartarus?"
This time, Annabeth didn't even try to control her laughter . She was unable to say anything for a minute. Finally, she was able to speak.
"No, not acid from tartarus," she said firmly.
Percy looked at her and smile, that sarcastic troublemaker smile of his that made Annabeth's heart melt, and said, "Good."
Annabeth shifted a little, so that instead of dupporting her weight with her arms, she wasleaning more on Percy.
After few moments, Percy spoke again. "What's dicarboxylic acid?"
"Just shut up and enjoy the quiet, seaweed brain."
"Yes, ma'am."
A/N: So...review? Please?
