Kai shifted slightly from his sitting position on the roof to a more alert half squat. His claws tapped and clicked on the cool tiles beneath him as his eyes looked out on to the dank street.

He was starving, and his stomach was clawing at him furiously. He was at the point of insanity, instinct threatening to take over if he did not feed soon.

Just thinking about his last feed (a young man if he remembered correctly) made him growl in anticipation, his fangs poking at his own lips.

His sensitive ears twitched slightly as he heard faint steps coming in his direction. His head swiveled to meet that same direction and his hawk like eyes pierced through the dark night to find the owner of the steps that taunted him so.

A young man walked into view, in an obvious hurry. His one arm was holding a thick book labeled "Shakespeare" along with a smaller book simply labeled "Script." It was obvious that the young man was a sort of actor.

His long black hair was pulled back into a simple ponytail, showing off his tanned, smooth, neck.

Oh his neck!

Just the sight of it made Kai tense, hunger taking over slowly.

Kai ran his eyes over the appealing figure only to have them wander back up to that antagonizing gorgeous neck.

Kai snapped and lunged foreword suddenly, arms spread out in from on him – ready to snatch.

And snatch he did, grabbing the smaller boy into hid arms and then, holding tight before leaping up onto the nearest roof. He held the boy's arms tightly and then quickly pinned him down on the flat room, straddling him.

He watched the struggling figure beneath him with great interest, enjoying the sounds of protest that the tanned boy was making beneath him.

He moved the boys arms over his head and held them there with his left hand easily, his strength a hundred fold more times powerful than the other's. With his right, he slowly reached down and stroked the smooth neck below him.

It was warm, and with his senses, he could feel the pulse quickening with fear. Oh, the delicious fear coursing through those pumping veins!

Kai bent down, nuzzling his nose into the soft skin, smirking at the gasp the boy let out, half strangled by terror. Kai's right hand swept down and stroked the taught stomach.

The boy whimpered.

Kai paused, musing over what to do with the beautiful entity beneath him. He would make a fine mate – or a fine meal.

He paused, feeling the poor boy up for a few more moments. Shaking his head, he looked into the frightened gold eyes of the tan boy, now laced with tears.

"Sorry." He said quickly with a strange smile, "I'll make this quick 'cause I like you." He then swooped down, digging his white fangs into the soft flesh.

Kai almost winced as he heard the strangled cry of pain and confusion. However, he brushed it off, and began the task of feeding.

Slowly, the boy's struggles slowed down – so did the frantic beating of his heart.

After a few more moments, the beating stopped, and the boy went limp in the now full vampire's arms. There was going to be no turning, no new vampire into the city, Kai had finished him.

Kai stroked the silky black locks that adorned to lovely face, smiling a little. He jumped back down onto the street, laying the fast cooling body onto a nearby bench, making it seem as if he was sleeping.

He picked up the dropped script and book, leafing through it quickly. He sent one last wistful glance at the boy and shook his head sadly, "I could love you if only my heart could beat." With that, he bent over, and pressed a kiss to the boy's lips. Then, he swept of into the night just as quickly as he came.
