The Intruder

At first, Emma thought it was a joke.

"Do you think he'll come tonight?" She heard Ruby asking Granny anxiously while eating lunch at the diner.

"I don't see why not. He's come every year for as long as I can remember. But don't worry, I paid extra for those new fancy locks. He won't get inside," Granny assured her Granddaughter.

Ruby continued to look so worried that Emma couldn't help but ask, "Who are you afraid of Ruby? Who do you think will come tonight?"

Ruby's eyes darted around the almost deserted diner then back to Emma.

"The Easter Bunny," she said in a loud whisper.

Emma snorted, but Ruby frowned.

"You can't be serious..." Emma said, but the smile fell from her face at Ruby's expression.

"You don't know, Emma! You haven't been here on an Easter Sunday before," the woman said, before turning and stalking off to the the kitchen.

Emma turned confused eyes to Granny, who just shrugged.

"Make sure you lock up tight tonight. He has a way of getting in. It's a bit disturbing..."

When Emma got home from work that night, she told Mary Margaret of the conversation expecting to share a laugh at the oddness, but her roommate put a hand to her mouth with a gasp.

"Oh, I had forgotten! They were right Emma. We need to make sure all of the windows and doors are locked tonight," Mary Margaret said before turning to the nearest window to check.

Emma decided that she was just tired- sleep deprived even. They weren't really acting this crazy over a mythical creature, where they?

Emma was awoken at two am by the shrilling of her cell phone. She reached out a hand, blindly grabbing the phone off of the nightstand.

"''m-low?" She muttered, still half-asleep.

"Miss Swan? I need to report an intruder. Please come to my house at once!"

Emma sat up in bed and rubbed at her eyes.

"Mr. Gold?" She asked around a yawn.

"Sheriff! Come quickly!"

"Fine, but you'd better have coffee!" She barked before throwing the phone down and hauling herself out of bed.

Emma made it to Mr. Gold's house in a matter of minutes.

She drew her gun before knocking on his door.

"Come in!" He called, and she slowly made her way into the dark house.

"Mr. Gold?" She called out after a few minutes of silence.

"I'm back here!" He answered, and she followed the sound of his voice.

Mr. Gold had someone cornered, holding a gun on them.

The intruder had long ears and a fuzzy white tail. It was a … bunny?

The pawn shop owner gave her a gleeful look.

"I did it! I caught the Easter Bunny!" He yelled, cackling with glee.

Emma stared in shock as the bunny turned it's face to her.

It was then she realized that it wasn't a bunny at all.

Leroy, the hospital janitor, looked back at her with a pained expression.

"I can explain..."
