1 Tripping

She wasn't a clumsy person, not really. But when she was tired, it was a different story. As she sat at her desk late that night, she nearly dropped the pen she was filling out paperwork with, and he noticed this.

"You okay?" He asked, and she was pretty sure she saw genuine concern on his face, though it was hard to tell without actually seeing his eyes. They were the only two in the station, and his voice echoed slightly, reverberating pleasantly in her ears. She tilted her head, examined her reflection briefly in his glasses, and decided she could use a few hours of sleep. She wouldn't admit to that though.

"I'm fine."She said firmly. She tightened her grip on the pen and continued to write. He, however, got up from his own desk and snatched the pen from her hand.

"Hey!" She protested half-heartedly.

"Come on, Liv. I'll take you home." He insisted, when she didn't respond he continued, "It's almost one o' clock. You look like you're about to collapse."

"I am NOT about to collapse." She responded somewhat indignantly. Never the less, she slowly stood up, only to trip over a nearby imaginary object. He was next to her in seconds, putting his arms out and catching her mid fall. She tilted her head backwards to look up at him.

"Thanks John." She yawned, smiling slightly. He smiled warmly back and pushed her gently upright again.

She wasn't a clumsy person, not really.

But he was always there to catch her when she fell.

A/N: So...please review! And of course, Law and Order: SVU is not mine. It belongs to NBC, Dick Wolfe, and a bunch of other lucky people.
