A Sweet Dream of Sadness
- Snowleaf

--

Orihime stirred gently in her sleep. A curtain of dark red hair fell across her cheek, and tickled her lips. Her hand brushed them away unconsciously. She was having a good dream; a rarity. Streaks of silver moonlight touched her softly behind the barred window. They haloed her beauty, and darkened her sadness. In the distance, a lone wolf began howling for his mate. Leaves rustled as a cool breeze brushed past and an owl hooted to take flight. In her cell, Orihime did not wake up, she refused to wake up. At least in this dream, she could finally see the person she wanted to see the most…

"Kurosaki-kun…" She murmured, softly.

Slowly, the night drawled by. Somewhere far far away in the human world, a clock chimed midnight. Orihime blissfully slept on; totally unaware of anything, utterly absorbed in her desperate fantasy. All was quiet outside, not even the sound of a feather could be heard. She was undisturbed in her slumber. The moon gradually drifted away, and the night sky was left empty behind the thick, dark clouds. Silently, silently… with the care and gentleness of a loving mother, a shadow was swept over Orihime's motionless body and darkness shrouded around her once again.

Author's Notes:

Sorry, I only realised after I wrote this that in Hueco Mundo there probably aren't animals or trees… Oops. Just ignore that please. At least it's true that they have a moon there.
