Harsh brown eyes glowing almost gold stared into my dark chocolate ones. I could see through them so clearly as I watched them go from rage to fear to absolutely broken as he processed the scene before him. I can't remember what happened. I heard thrashing and screams in the room next to me and I went check it out. I remember knocking, opening the door, and calling out to him so he'd wake up from the horrific nightmare I knew he was having. I was so worried, so scared for him. I couldn't touch him so I kept using my voice to draw him out and then suddenly with an animalistic roar six claws were penetrating my chest ruining my snow-white silk nightgown. I felt the air from my lungs vanish and my eyes go wide. I tried to speak, but it was like a huge lump was stuck in my throat and it wasn't going anywhere. He retracted his claws with a metallic click and everything felt red. Red anger, red heat, red blood. All we could do was stare at each other, which felt like an eternity had passed, but in reality this had all occurred within a minute. A minute had changed everything.
I saw his lips moving, but everything was registering too slowly. His rough voice was muffled and rushed, his eyes searching. Searching my face, my body, the room, but there was nothing and no one. He kept yelling, the fear and sheer panic evident in his voice, for me to respond. I couldn't with words and before I knew it my bare hand rested on his cheek. My fingers grazed his scratchy yet soft mutton chop before touching his bare skin. Before I could register what my body intended his eyes widened with horror and then shut in unbearable pain. As his soul surged into mine so did his healing powers. I could feel my body healing, stitching together the freshly punctured skin not without leaving bloodstains on the dress however. As this happened, I also gained his enhanced senses and could hear his heart getting slower and slower as well as his breathing. When I realized he was near death, I dropped my hand from his cheek and his body previously powerful, now weak crumble to the ground with a loud thump.
I stared completely dazed and incomprehensive at his usually strong body collapsed on the floor before me. I heard gasps and footsteps running behind me and before I could process it, my new instincts took over and I ran out the door, but not before I saw the fear and disgust in some of eyes I ran past. As I ran further and further away beyond the school and into the woods, all I saw were images flashing in my mind. Looks of hatred and fear. White so pure stained with deep red. A rough mumble. Shiny metallic claws. Brown eyes. The man I love.
