Inspired on a Tumblr post, where someone wonders what happens if Kili dies first and Fili behaves like Éomer when he finds Eowyn 'dead'.
.
.
Thorin Oakenshield had fallen.
But he was not helpless. Fili and Kili stood at their feet, fighting for him, no one would touch their uncle again while they lived.
They just didn't know that it wasn't going to be for long.
One second.
One second was how long Kili's locked his look to his brother. A second in which he still had the orc sword buried half his body down. A whole second during which he still stood on his feet. One second in which he looked at Fili's eyes, fear, shock and a faint goodbye.
Then the orc left, eager to find the next kill, taking away his sword. Kili fell to the ground.
Fili just stood there for a total amount of two seconds. His sword still raised, his mouth open in a silent scream. Then he droped the sword and fell to his knees. This time the scream went out. And agonizing cry.
He grabbed his brother's lifeless body, imploring mercy at the Valars, trying to make sense of what did't have.
His brother, his little brother. His better half was dead.
A sting, a sting in his back. It should have hurted more, but nothing would overcome the pain in his heart. Another sting more. And Fili continued crying. Three more stings in his back, and Fili stopped crying.
With five arrows in his back, Fili bended over Kili's body. He carresed his cheeck and leaned over his ear.
"Wait for me, little brother," he whispered.
And when he arrived at Mandos' palace, a dark haired dwarf smiled at him.
"Kili, at your service," he said and bowed.
Fili ran to his brother's arms. Not even death had been able to take them apart.
