SPOILER ALERT: The Rapture
I look at the pot of boiling water again. "Are you sure?"
The angelic voice sighs, "Jimmy, I would not lie to you."
Questions flood my mind: Could this really be an angel? How do I know I'm not crazy? … Am I good enough? What was I diving into it?
"James Novac of Illinois, I am Casitel an Angel of the Lord. You are not crazy. If you trust me, place your hand into the water, and have no fear."
It's the fervor in his voice that changes my mind. I roll up my sleeve and take the plunge.
