Hancock stared out the window at the pouring rain and howling wind, a scowl affixed to her face and a mug of hot cocoa in her hand. "I hate storms."

"I know," Alvida, resting on the couch, responded. "Come over here."

"They're disrespectful is what they are," Hancock declared. "They ruin all the nice things-walking or napping on the beach, reading on the porch, jogging, going to the café-"

The lights flickered and went out.

"And now the power's gone out!" Hancock exclaimed, barely lit by the dim light of the window. "And Buggy still hasn't returned our generator-"

"Complaining won't fix anything," Alvida said. She stood and went to Hancock, resting her head on her shoulder.

"Makes me feel better."

"Does it? Come on, let's do something."

"Like what? The power's out!"

"If you use your thoughts for something other than whining, maybe you can come up with something."

Hancock hesitated. "We need light for a game."

"We have candles."

Hancock turned and kissed Alvida's forehead, shoulders slumping in resignation. "Fine. Let's pick something out."
