Taichi Yagami was a positive thinking person. He was certain that life, in general, was good. But, in those rare cases it wasn't, life really sucked. Or at least, that was what Tai thought. Maybe also, because he was going through one of this bad times right now …
"Come on, Tai!", Izzy tried to cheer up his friend. "It's not that bad." Tai, whose head had sunk onto a table of the computer room, looked up. "Not that bad?!", he asked, his voice sounding desperate. "Izz' which part of my story didn't you understand?"
Izzy patted him on his shoulders. "So your mother wants you to get private tutoring in maths. This is not the end of the world", he said sympathetically. "She not just wants me to get better in math!", Tai reminded his friend. "I have to pass math this year or I'll have to quit playing soccer! That's what mom said at least …" "But you're the captain of the Odaiba High football team", Izzy replied. "You can't quit just like that, your mother knows that too." Tai sighed, as he ran his fingers through his brown hair. "Well, even if she does, mom will kill me if I don't get a good grade on the next maths test. And believe me, this won't be a pretty sight!"
Tai was just glad, that Kari had saved him. She had told their mother that Yolei's older sister Chizuru was a genius when it came to maths, physics and chemistry. So, Kari had talked to Yolei to ask her sister if she would be willing to help Tai out. And now, he was sitting in the computer room with Izzy, waiting for Chizuru Inoue, his new maths teacher.
"First Sora dumps me for my best friend and now this", Tai complained. "I tell you, Izzy, if this year goes on as great as it started, then I'm going straight to bed and sleep until the next year begins!" Izzy smiled. "Try to think positive", he said. "At least your private tutor is Chizuru Inoue and not someone like Miss Sakurada, our teacher. Chizuru should be very nice after what Yolei had told me. She is in the same class as Matt, did you know that?" "Great …" Tai just muttered.
Izzy gave up. He and Tai had been friends now for so long but never had he seen him so … depressive. That Sora didn't return his feelings had hit Tai harder than he wanted to show. And now his mother wanted him to give up his passion … Yes, poor Taichi!
"Listen", Izzy said softly. "I know that you're feeling miserable right now, but you have to stop this! You can't continue pitying yourself forever. "You have to keep your head up", isn't that, what you always tell me?"
Of course he was right. "You're problem is, that you've been in love with Sora even before you knew what love actually is", Izzy continued. "You can't imagine being with another girl." Tai just looked at him, uninterested. "And what would you suggest I should do?", he wanted to know. "Simple", Izzy answered. "Start dating someone else. Sora is not the only girl in the world, Tai." "But what if she's the only one for me?", Tai thought.
How do you stop loving someone you have known all your life? Someone, with whom you have fighted against evil digimons and played soccer every day. What Izzy had said was the truth but at the moment Tai really couldn't see himself with someone else than Sora Takenouchi. Even if it made the pain he felt in his heart only worse.
Finally, Izzy had to leave. "I have to go home", he said, adding seriously: "Think about what I said, Tai!" His friend didn't respond.
