"How about BeastDude?" BeastBoy asked. 'Ugh" Raven groaned. "Ummm...guys?" The two friends turned their heads to face their leader. Robin. "Is something wong?" Raven asked. Robin cleared his throat. "Raven, could I speak to BeastBoy alone for a minuite?" Raven paused for a minuite, then flew off.
Robin sat down beside BeastBoy on the rocks. "We need to talk about what happened tonight." He said quietly. BeastBoy stared down into the lake. "I think we know everything we need to know, Robin." Robin raised an eyebrow and looked at BeastBoy. "I matter nothing to you." BeastBoy muttered.
Robin put his head in his hands. "BeastBoy, that's not-" "DON'T even try to tell me it's not true!!" BeastBoy interrupted, standing up. "You, never for a second, cared about my safety! Not once! You tried to kill me every chance you got! You threaghtened to send me to jail! JAIL!!!" Robin could see tears coming down BastBoy's cheek, and his guilt grew with each falling tear.
"BeastBoy, i've called you my friend.." Beastboy rubbed the tears from his eyes. "Only when i'm on YOUR side! If I ever turned bad, like...LIKE YOU did with Slade, you wouldn't hesitate to destroy!!" The green changling tried not to sob.
Robin always tried to keep his cool and collected image, but seeing his friend think he HATES him...it almost made HIM want to cry. "BeastBoy, just hear me out!" Robin begged. BeastBoy looked stubborn, but sat beside his leader, anyway.
Robin drew a deep breath. "The reason I treated you like criminalwas because....of Terra. Robin winced at the look on BeastBoy's face. Terra had mattered more to BeastBoy than anyone else. "When she turned against us, I began to think ANYONE could be a villian, even your closest friends." He turned to look at the lake. "When you turned violent, I convinced myself you were just like Terra and had betrayed us."
"But I couldn't help it!" BeastBoy growled. "I know, I know, I was just too stubborn to believe it then. For most of the night, I convinced myself that you had truely gone off the deep end, that way it would be easier to stop you. But when Adonis (A/N: WAS THAT HIS NAME? I DON'T REMEMBER.) attacked you, I couldn't help but worry about you. I realized evevn if you did turn evil, I couldn't hurt you. Same with the rest of the team."
BeastBoy was quiet for a minuite. "You were able to attack Terra." he pointed out. Robin shook his head. "Yes, but I hadn't known Terra as long as you four. You guys are the only family I have, and tonight, I lost sight of that...again." He looked at his green friend. "I didn't think about the consequences of this team losing you." Their eyes locked for a minuite before Robin went on.
"If you left...who would remind us to smile once in awihle, Cyborg would lose brother and the rest of us would lose a true hero and friend." Robin sighed. "I'm sorry, BeastBoy. I didn't treat you fairly, and you deserved your friend's support. I was wrong. I don't think I really deserve your forgiveness, but could we be friends again?"
BeastBoy hesitated for a minuite, then punched Robin playfully in the arm. "Practically brothers," he smiled.
It was good to be part of the team again.
