- Prologue: Cornered –
It was a dark, dark night. The air was filled with the feeling of death and danger. So sinister was it that nobody dared go outside. So nobody was able to see three boys running for their lives through the streets of Domino City. One was a tall Egyptian boy with long blond hair and dressed in effeminate clothing, with a gold rod in his belt. The second was a very short boy with large bell-shaped amethyst eyes and spiky tri-colored hair, dressed in leather with a gold pyramid on a chain hanging from his neck. The third was a doe-eyed effeminate albino with long hair wearing a sweater over a collared shirt and jeans, with a strange ring-like pendant around his neck. They each had a backpack slung across their back. The three boys were Malik Ishtar, Yugi Muto, and Ryo Bakura, and they were the children of six very dead demonslayers.
As they ran, gasping for breath, Ryo stumbled and fell. Sensing, rather than seeing, their friend on the ground Malik and Yugi stopped and turned back to help him. They grabbed his arms and hauled the albino to his feet.
"Come on, Ryo!" wheezed the Yugi. "We're almost there! We can't give up now!"
"Yugi, what if it doesn't work?" gasped Malik as the three of them continued running. "What if she follows us?"
"We can't lose hope!" cried Ryo. "This has to work! It just has to!"
They ran into a nearby church, and slammed the door shut behind them. They waited in terror for several minutes. When their pursuer did not enter through the door, they collapsed and relaxed, using the opportunity to catch their breath and check their supplies.
"I've got some rope, a few knives, some first aid supplies, and half a bottle of holy water," said Yugi, looking through his backpack. "What do you two have?"
"I have a box of matches, some water, my lockpick kit, and a vial of Angel Tears," said Malik. Ryo added, "And I have a coil of wire, some needles, a spool of thread, a bag of blessed dirt, and some rations."
"So we've got some supplies that are useless against the demon chasing us, some supplies that could help defeat her if we knew how to use them, and some food," said Yugi said. "Well, at least the demon isn't in here with us."
Suddenly Ryo let out a scream, his eyes fixed on the side door of the church. Malik and Yugi looked and saw the demon that had been chasing them standing inside the doorway.
"RUN!" yelled Yugi. The three boys tried to open the door that they had come in through, but it wouldn't budge.
"We're trapped!" wailed Ryo. Malik cried, "Yugi, what do we do?"
"I don't know!" cried Yugi.
The demon stalked toward her cornered victims…
