Crap, I haven't written anything in ages. Sorry guys. Anyway, I couldn't sleep until this was written out, so enjoy the fluffiness of my 2-AM brain.

Moonlight reflected on Sesshomaru's long hair, making it shine like silver as he stood by the bank of the river. Long grasses swayed in the wind, creating a soft susurrus as they brushed gently against the willow tree that bent to dip its branches in the water. The Youkai did not seem to notice the pensive beauty of his surroundings, or perhaps he simply didn't care. Only one thing occupied his mind: the smell of flowers and sugar and sunshine that surrounded this area. Rin had been here.

I am near the old miko's village, he thought. The pup likely plays here.

"Jaken," he said sharply, "we stop here for the night."

"Yes, Sesshomaru-sama!" said the little demon enthusiastically before flopping dramatically on top of A-Un. Within seconds, he was snoring loudly.

Ignoring Jaken, Sesshomaru let his nose lead him to where Rin's smell was strongest. A little indentation had been made between the long roots of the willow tree. It looked to be about the size of a little girl. This scent is strong, thought the youkai. Rin comes here often. Sesshomaru leaned against the tree and breathed slowly. A wave of unexpected calm washed over him, and he allowed himself to relax until he lay with his head resting on one of the roots that wound toward the river.

Although his pride would never let him admit it, Sesshomaru felt more peaceful than he had in a long time. He had not realized how accustomed he had become to the child's scent, her songs and her smiles. Being where he knew she had been, where he knew she was near, soothed his wandering soul. So sweet was this repose that, without realizing, the youkai slipped into a sleep as soft and deep as a child's.
