Never one to break traditions
John had never been one to break a traditions. Like on Valentines day. He decorated the flat with red hearts and things like that even though it reminded him of his wife and how the first time he came back from the war to spend the holiday with her, she was dead. Or Christmas. He decorated the flat with mistletoe's, red and green decoration even though it reminded him of his childhood Christmas: hiding from his drunk father and sister. Now it's New Years and the clock is close to midnight and John is sad. Sad to see the traditions of kissing someone once the clock hits 12 hit the road. Sarah doesn't want him anymore, and the only person he wants seems to be 'sick with the holiday's' as it were.
"Sherlock?"
"Hmm?"
"Happy New Years." Though all in all John was happy. "Happy New Years John." Sherlock smiles gently. Yes John is happy. He's spending New Years with his flatmate/best friend/crush/partner in crime Sherlock Holmes. This New Years makes a smile grace John's lips. For it reminds him that it's another year he has spent with the mad man. 'With many many years to come.' John tells himself, still smiling. Sherlock holds up both his hands in a silent countdown. 'Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four..'
"Three, two, one." John sighs as Sherlock smiles. "John your a traditional man right?" Sherlock asks walking over to John, whose looking out the window to the kissing couples in the street. "Sherlock. What in go's nam-" John couldn't not continue. For every word he'd say would be caught in the detectives mouth. To say John was shocked would be a the truth. To say John was mad well, that would be a lie. John smiles into the kiss as he wraps his arms around Sherlocks neck. The faint fireworks and cheering remind John that he does need to breath. He pulls away panting. "Sherlock." That's all needs to say to sen Sherlock into explanation mode. "I thought today would be a good day to tell you. Wouldn't want you to break traditions. This is a tradition right? Kissing the one you love at midnight?" Sherlock begins smiling and smirking but ends unsure and uncertain. "Yes it is. I love you too Sherlock." John shakes his head and tackles Sherlock to the sofa. As the lay on the sofa, smiling and joyful in each others love, they burst into laughter. They laugh at how long it took for them.
No no no. John isn't one to break traditions. But he is one to make new ones. Like New Years. Every New Years is his anniversary. And every New Years will be spent with the one and only consulting detective.
THE END
A/N-Happy New Years!
