Only vaguely did he hear the door slam shut behind him as he left.

Only vaguely did he hear his mothers outraged shrieks echo behind him.

Only vaguely did he wonder where he would go.

Only vaguely did he note the desperation in the grey eyes, his brother's eyes, in the window.

Only vaguely did he think what he had done.

Only vaguely did he think…

What had he done?

His brother was left behind, with no-one to follow.

But he knew his brother, he knew he would find someone else to follow.

He knew he would turn to a leader.

He knew who that leader would be.

Just like he knew when his brother died, he knew it was his fault.
