"There it is… it's incredible".

The few who had ever gazed upon it were always intrigued by its mysteriousness. Clay bricks gleamed silver in the luminous moonlight, embellished by jade forest leaves. Gemstones glistened in the dark, and a mystifying cool wind swirled around them. The one detail that could possibly distract gawkers from the beauty was the dim, haunting opening in the middle.

The eerie silence was broken. "The ancient Ruins of Tulhuana. How fascinating."

The sound of mechanical swerves and steps quietly echoed throughout the area. "The locals pretend to think nothing of it, but I know they fear it. It's why no one ever visits around here."

"As for me, I have nothing to fear, because I know its secret."

Doctor Eggman chuckled to himself as he walked his mech into the shadowy opening. He hadn't gone in more than in inch when he walked straight into a spider web.

"Ugh, that won't do." He pressed a button and closed himself within a glass roof within his machine.

"That's better. Now for some light." With that, two bright beams emitted from the front of the mech, revealing a disturbing face.

Eggman's heart skipped a beat before he realized it was just a carving, with some ancient runes written above it. He laughed nervously. "Calm down. No one has lived here for thousands of –

He was cut off by a chilling shriek, and something slammed against his glass windshield.

"What in the name of-!" Suddenly he heard more shrieks and more figures zoomed past him, some slamming against his mech.

"Just bats! Okay, get a hold of yourself." He told himself a joke to ease the tension. "I bet they're flying away from Rouge! Haha."

With that, he moved further into the temple. Aside from the sound of the mech walking, and the occasional flap of a wing, the ruins were uncomfortably silent. After a few minutes of creeping through narrow halls, he came to a dead end. There was a painting on the wall, depicting some kind of peculiar gemstone. At first glance it looked green, and could easily be mistaken for the Master Emerald. But a closer look revealed that only one side of it was green, and others were blue, clear, orange, red, yellow… the colors of the Chaos Emeralds. Underneath the painting, there were some more ancient runes.

Eggman looked at the painting with curiosity. "Egg Walker, translate." A robotic voice emitted from inside Eggman's mech. "Identifying… Tulhuanan. Not much of this language is stored in my database."

"Translate what you can."

"…is the pride of this tribe…we have the power…dimensional power… Sorry, but I am unable translate the rest."

"Heh. That's it then. It's right… HERE! Egg Walker, engage blasters and destroy the wall!"
